Lloyds TSB Insure Direct

A couple of years ago i bought a brand new Tigra which sent my car insurance sky high with the insurance company i was already with, so i decided to ring round and see what i could save. I must have phoned about 15 different companies and got the quote down by about £300 which was great. Then last on the list i had was Lloyds TSB direct which i'd not phoned because i thought "i doubt they're going to give me a good quote, after all there just a high street bank..what do they know about giving good deals!" March 20 2006, the reminder on my PDA is ringing. Yes!!! Time to renew my car insurance!!! I started browsing around. Obvious choice was internet. I had a few quotes from different insurers and selected my favourite one. As my cover is due for renewal on 14.04.06 I decided to wait for new quote from current insurer which is MoreThan. When my car insurance was due I used the internet to find what I thought was the best deal. LloydsTSB came up with the best quote so I duly applied online giving my bank details. I am a 17 year old male and just passed my driving test. i bought a fiat seichento 0.9 liter for a small first car. went to all the insurers that have big adverts about how cheap they were, and this is what they quoted me Norwich Union - £2800 Swinton - £4000 Bell - £2200 Endsleigh - £2200 this was getting rediculous for me, just bcause of my age everyone is trying to rip me off.....i know insurance on any car for me is goin to be over as grand burt this was awful. I used the 0800 direct quote number and got a quote that was just above the lowest (although I was entitled to £10 off the first year as a bank customer). The quotation process was twice as long as other peoples mainly because the clerk had to ask irrelevant questions. such as after "employment = central government civil servant", he had to ask "are you self-employed" - obviously not! He also didn't use the car reg to pull up the car details so I had to read out the car reg document to him line by line almost.
