Whilst being with Lloyds TSB i've had 1 claim where someone hit my car, i reported it, Churchill sent me a letter straight away saying repair everything and they pay the bill and get the money back of the other persons insurers after. A couple of years ago i bought a brand new Tigra which sent my car insurance sky high with the insurance company i was already with, so i decided to ring round and see what i could save. It turns out that they insure you and deal with everything except claims, which goes through Churchill insurance. But if you'd have phoned Churchill directly the price wouldn't have been as cheap. ...buy my new insurance from Lloyds TSB. But browsing the internet couple of months ago, I discovered www.greasypalm.co.uk witch is another site were you save some money when buying all sort of things. Lucky guess, would have Lloyds TSB products available? Sure, they did. I was able to get £40 cash back for buying my Lloyds car insurance through the web site, total saving over MoreThan £331!!! Gave it a go.

Advantages: was cheapest Disadvantages: hidden charges and lack of communication
When my car insurance was due I used the internet to find what I thought was the best deal. LloydsTSB came up with the best quote so I duly applied online giving my bank details.
Two days after the proposed start date I had still had no confirmation and the amount had not gone from my bank account and it was in fact a week later before the money was taken out and I received my certificate.
Although not too happy about this I thought it wouldn't ... ...decided to change my car and rang for a cover note to be sent and althought the car has a smaller engine it is newer so i didn't query the £16 extra. I rang on a monday morning and asked for the insurance to be changed from the wednesday and was told this was fine. On the thursday I rang to ask what was happening and was told it can take up to 5 working days, if so why did they not tell me this as it meant my current car was now uninsured and I was ...

...would like a quote from Lloyds tsb, i agreed....it came out at £1350.
since all my family have switched to lloyds for their car insurance because it is so much cheaper than anywhere else.
and much fairer prices for younger drivers.
I can also insure my dads 2003 2.4 liter 5 cylinder Volvo S60 with lloyds tsb cheaper than i can a 1 liter 1998 micra with other insurers.
definately worth a try...you may be plesantly suprised ...

Advantages: Good value quote comparible with the cheapest elsewhere Disadvantages: Very detailed questions, some of which were irrelevant, and they didn't use the car reg number to get the detail as other direct style brokers do
I used the 0800 direct quote number and got a quote that was just above the lowest (although I was entitled to £10 off the first year as a bank customer). The quotation process was twice as long as other peoples mainly because the clerk had to ask irrelevant questions. such as after "employment = central government civil servant", he had to ask "are you self-employed" - obviously not!
He also didn't use the car reg to pull up the car details so ...
