A couple of years ago i bought a brand new Tigra which sent my car insurance sky high with the insurance company i was already with, so i decided to ring round and see what i could save. I must have phoned about 15 different companies and got the quote down by about £300 which was great. Then last on the list i had was Lloyds TSB direct which i'd not phoned because i thought "i doubt they're going to give me a good quote, after all there just a high street bank..what do they know about giving good deals!" I thought i'd give them a try anyway just being curious, and so wrong i was, they beat everyone's quote by another £60...£360 better than my previous insurer. They even gave me a £10 M&S voucher. It turns out that they insure you and deal with everything except claims, which goes through Churchill insurance. But if you'd have phoned Churchill directly the price wouldn't have been as cheap. So i guess Lloyds TSB take a bit of the cost off to get custom and hope you stay with them and take other services.
Whilst being with Lloyds TSB i've had 1 claim where someone hit my car, i reported it, Churchill sent me a letter straight away saying repair everything and they pay the bill and get the money back of the other persons insurers after. Which was great, because i'd always wondered if insurance companies took ages to pay out and kept stalling you. I'd really recommend Lloyds TSB direct if your looking around for quotes.
