I used the 0800 direct quote number and got a quote that was just above the lowest (although I was entitled to £10 off the first year as a bank customer). The quotation process was twice as long as other peoples mainly because the clerk had to ask irrelevant questions. such as after "employment = central government civil servant", he had to ask "are you self-employed" - obviously not!
He also didn't use the car reg to pull up the car details so I had to read out the car reg document to him line by line almost.
He couldn't give me two quotes at once, and there wasn't any discount for insuring 2 cars at once.
Still a good deal if you have 1 car, no unusual risks and the patience to answer all the questions.

I bank with Lloyds and I went into the branch last year just before my home insurance was due. They were doing a campaign on asking customers for details and were supposed to ring back with a quote, I am still waiting! Helen
