I am a 17 year old male and just passed my driving test. i bought a fiat seichento 0.9 liter for a small first car.
went to all the insurers that have big adverts about how cheap they were, and this is what they quoted me
Norwich Union - £2800 Swinton - £4000 Bell - £2200 Endsleigh - £2200
this was getting rediculous for me, just bcause of my age everyone is trying to rip me off.....i know insurance on any car for me is goin to be over as grand burt this was awful.
Cheapest i found was tesco at £1700, then i went to my bank that afternoon to put a cheque in and me and the lady on the desk got into a conversation about driving ~(somehow) and she asked if i would like a quote from Lloyds tsb, i agreed....it came out at £1350.
since all my family have switched to lloyds for their car insurance because it is so much cheaper than anywhere else.
and much fairer prices for younger drivers.
I can also insure my dads 2003 2.4 liter 5 cylinder Volvo S60 with lloyds tsb cheaper than i can a 1 liter 1998 micra with other insurers.
definately worth a try...you may be plesantly suprised

I only have a 1.2l Micra and I'm 27. I haven't yet passed my driving test though, so my quotes have been really expensive too. Not quite as dear as yours though, thank goodness! x
