The lloyds / TSB telephone share shop is very easy to join and even easier to access. Once registered your are able to trade via phone immediately , all transactions are qualified within 48 hrs with a transaction confirmation and settlement of transaction is usually approx 5-10 days. All transactions are via a pre-nominated bank account and when contacting a password is required and then a personal question to confirm you are the correct user. The staff are very helpfull with an understanding of the small investors needs. The only critism is the charges , each transaction is £25 which when dealing in low investments can make a considerable difference.
Advantages: None at present Disadvantages: Failure to respond to secure emails is resulting in financial losses.
I have had severl stock account for anumber of years now which up to about 6 months ago operated very well but very sadly now they don't action instructions, fail to take up rights and take weeks (if they answer at all) to respond to secure emails. I have sent numerous request and follow up emails but all to no avail. Yet up to the credit crunch I had no complaints.
My wife and I have individual and a joint account and the current problems apply ...

...add to the above opinion, Lloyds TSB Stockbrokers offer a reduced rate of commission if you join their Active Investor service for a small annual fee. The commission rate is 0.75% minimum £18.50. This rate is very competitive amongst the larger brokers. Lloyds TSB Stockbrokers hold all your investments in nominee so they take care of the paperwork for you.
