Lloyds TSB

Ok so I couldn't think of a catchier title! TSB's catchphrase used to be "the bank that likes to say Yes" - which is where my uninspired title was born! Interested? Then read on… WHO? The Bank That Used To Say It Liked to Say "Yes"

Advantages: They're nice to you when you have money
Disadvantages: Not so nice when you don't have money

...
TSB merged with Lloyds back in 1995 to form Lloyds TSB Group plc, I can't believe it's already been 13 years (I still referred to it as TSB by accident until 2 or 3 years ago). But it wasn't until mid 1999 that TSB and Lloyds Bank branches in England and Wales were actually re-branded as Lloyds TSB.

'''WHY ME?'''

They wouldn't take my money - so I took theirs!

Advantages: Entertainment value nothing else
Disadvantages: Untrained staff, unhelpful, inpolite, bad communication, lots of other nasty things I could say

...remember. I continued to use Lloyds (oops...) for personal banking. Time moved on, business went downhill, and a loan was needed - no problem, Lloyds were eager for the business - and deal done. Even when I became unemployed for a short time in my life, they paid the loan for me. More time moved on, I was accepted for a mortgage - although the deal fell through - no fault of the bank. I had a visa card, substantial agreed overdraft which I hardly ...
...Passport approved and stamped by Lloyds themselves, got together various proof of ID, and cheques to open a new account. Some time passed, I heard nothing. I contacted their CS department again, who informed me that a letter should have been sent, explaining that my application had been turned down - they wouldn't tell me why. I thought this was strange, considering I had been a good customer for 20 years or more, had a good credit rating - up until ...

Banking made Simple

Advantages: Moving with the times, flexible Current Account Offerings, good branch network
Disadvantages: Still very much a reactive service, not a proactive banking provider..

...however, have never switched from Lloyds Bank (now LloydsTSB) for my current account for over 20 years. My main reason for this is that they have been incredibly easy to do business with. I first opened a Student Account back in 1986, the exact reason for choosing them long erased from my memory, and indeed my parents and family have never banked with Lloyds - but I probably chose them because they offered cold hard cash as an incentive. A figure ...
...all in one. However, the Lloyds account was much more straightforward to use, for managing bank transfers, direct debits and standing orders. I very rarely need to go into a bank nowadays. I did have to pay a large cheque in 2005 when I sold my house, but had not bought another..and I was whisked into an office as a matter of procedure and actually got a direct line to the bank, which is a rarity these days. I didn't have the heart to say I was going ...

Shockingly bad service

Advantages: None whatsoever
Disadvantages: To many to list here

...doubt obtaining a loan through Lloyds TSB is the worst thing I have ever done in my life. At the time of getting the loan I was a very naive 21 year old and going through a few temporary money troubles that looking back weren’t so bad. The thing that makes me more angry is that I feel I was more or less pushed into taking out the loan. I originally rang my bank to increase my overdraft limit by £200, well it was January and everyone knows how long ...
...went to my branch of Lloyds TSB the following day. Upon arrival I was taken into a private room to discuss my application for a loan! Now this is completely my own fault and I know I should have been much stronger but I could only see as far as the end of the month and worrying about how I was going to feed myself so I went along with it. The clerk took all the usual details such as address, work place & earnings and details of all my outgoings. ...

Please Don't Hate Us Too Much

Advantages: Many
Disadvantages: Also many

I was preparing a review on a Tesco range of ice creams called Mmmm, but that will have to wait as after reading recent and old reviews on LTSB and other banks I feel I need to give the views of a humble bank cashier. I am unable to comment on the economics, product design and profits of large financial institutions, I'm not that clever (if I was I wouldn't still be a cashier after 25 years), but I am able to give an opinion on customer service ...
...counter'. Reading the reviews was not totally enlightening it confirmed what I already knew, people dislike banks for the following reasons - not treating customers as individuals, lack of communication, charges, poor training, call centres. There were other problems but these were the most common. I was pleased to see that some opinions rated the helpfulness and friendliness of staff highly. After many years in the bank I have seen the emphasis ...

I don't have a DREAM, but I do have a RANT.

Advantages: Banking service, personal loans, student loans, mortgages, car insurance, house insurance and other additional services that are available, including TORTURE.
Disadvantages: All the services mentioned above, are completely useless on the long run. Bad customer service, hopeless cashiers and accounts service, untrained and misguided staff.

...and CONS of this local Lloyds TSB Bank; then you can read the rest of my little story. -------------------- Pros -------------------- 1. Excellent, spacious atmosphere, clean office and cubicles with blinds on every window. 2. Unscratched, modern-style writing desks with office-like pens tied-up with silver-bead chain. 3. Security cameras to keep your butt safe from harm, or provide evidence when necessary. 4. Well-dressed staff surrounding ...
...first opened my account at Lloyds TSB when I was at the age of 16 (miss the teenage years). Please note: The term TSB stands for: Torturing Selfish B*st*rds. This is why Lloyds adopted those THREE letters from the original TSB bank to suit their company's name (nice try). It was a time when I had to open an account somewhere in my NEAREST bank (my parents were Lloyds TSB account holders). I had to open an account with them, because I was in the ...

Lloyds TSB

Advantages: Helpful bank, always try to help during financial difficulty.
Disadvantages: Try to sell you things you don't want, high bank charges.

I have been with Lloyds TSB literally all my life, they've always seemed to be a good bank to me, they won't lend me money as it is as I've never had credit and have been a student and never had a full time job, which is good, alot of banks don't care and will give money out to anyone regardless of whether they can pay it back or not, but I've never had this with Lloyds, the ony thing with them is the charges they put on your account for an unplanned overdraft, but these unplanned overdrafts I take with Lloyds really are a godsend when my wages are short by 50 pound one month and my phone bill needs paying so I dont mind a £25 charge for a £100 unplanned overdraft, it s when you go overdrawn by 4p that the charge is annoying!!! Other than this, Lloys have been a very good bank for me, yes they try to sell me things like car insuarnce ...

My LloydsTSB Student Account

Advantages: Offers services you'd expect from a bank, high free overdraft limit for students
Disadvantages: Confusion applying, no interest, little contact, constant changes, poor internet banking

I would like to begin by pointing out that I have had a Lloyds account since 14/11/1996; opened when I was 14 with the princely sum of £5. In all that time, I’ve mostly been very satisfied. What's more, the bank has merged with TSB, offering more cashpoints, introduced internet banking, etc, etc. When I first opened the account, it was a special account for young people, known as a ‘Headway’ account and paying between 1% and 2.15 % interest (depending on how much was in it). After my 16th birthday, it automatically transferred to another account (simply called ‘bank account’ on my statements) and earned 4% interest if above £250 but only 0.3% for amounts below that! The transition though was smooth and didn’t bother me. There were the usual minor changes from time to time and in July 2000 my ...

Lloyds TSB Online Personal Loans

Advantages: Online Loans very quick, easy and hassle free
Disadvantages: Possibly too easy to get your hands on the cash

every case when you got a quote this wasnt the rate applied. To get this rate i had to borrow enough money that i could afford to be personally fed truffles by David Beckham in The Palm resort in Dubai. However when i entered my loan amount, under 10k, i found that the APR was almost exactly the same from one company to the other and only amounted to pennies difference each month. Having realised the actual cost element was virtually identical i decided that my other requirement was the firms reputation and also the ease of actually using their website. Due to banking with Lloyds TSB i decided that they would be my first point of call to obtaining the car of my dreams that i would drive off into the sunset clutching a beautif......sorry, got carried away with my writing. The Application As previously mentioned i bank ...
