I do not bank with Lloyds myself but I have had some experience of them over the years in a professional and private capacity. More importantly my son recently opened an account with them whilst at university.##
What I can say is that they may not always offer the best goodies but as a bank for students I doubt whether they come much better.
Always approachable and willing to try and understand the problems of the customer and above all, willing to help if at all possible.
I have nothing but praise from them in this capacity. So if you are a student give this one serious consideration.

Yes, I am a student. However, all of my cash is in a nationwide e-savings account. Do you really need all the advice that they say they will give you? You can get much better rates of interest on your funds and better overdrafts elsewhere. Open the students account for the free gift or cash and then leave it well alone.

I agree. I had a student account with them in the mid 1980's and they were great. When I went back to University in 1998, my bank manager advised me to open a new student account. I got all the student benifits from banking as a mature student. I cannot fault them.
Advantages: Ability to use VISA Delta debit card in ATMs abroad Disadvantages: Overdrafts very expensive, internet banking username impossible to remember
