What a joke. I was given a Visa Electron Debit Card and I was so pleased because now I could buy things from shops and on the Internet without having to worry about carrying about large sums of cash.
I was paid the next week and decided to put my card to good use. I tried going everywhere but no one would accept the card. I tried going online, and again I couldn't find anyone who accepted it. I then thought to myself 'It says VISA on it, why not try to spend it at somewhere that has a VISA sticker'. At the time I thought this I was at home so I hopped onto Amazon.com.
Success! I tried it at other places. Failure. It seems that the only place taking it is Amazon, and thats only if you put that it's a VISA debit card.
I have now found a few more shops that take it so I can use it very rarely. Now that I have been with Lloyds for a while, I am in the process of upgrading it to a VISA debit card and I can't wait for this to finally come through

Would like to have seen much more info about the company/accounts etc. I sympathise about the card, I used to have one and few places took it, although it is starting to be more widely accepted, particularly abroad - anywhere that sports either the Electron or visa Electron signs will accept. If you update the op let me know and I will happily rerate.

Sorry for the FH rating, but this is under the wrong category and the information about the electron card is a bit brief! I used to have an electron card many a year ago - and yes they are pants!

I notice a lot of places state they dont take visa electron! Not as popular as switch.
Advantages: Offers services you'd expect from a bank, high free overdraft limit for students Disadvantages: Confusion applying, no interest, little contact, constant changes, poor internet banking
