5 Stars Livin' La Vida Loco Review with images 12/11/2010
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Looks a peach, engaging gameplay mechanics, eclectic soundtrack, highly original

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of variety in later levels, not overly challenging to complete

Aside from the benefit of “letting off some steam”, most psychologists would likely assert that spending endless hours killing in the virtual world is perhaps not the healthiest of recreational activities. Still, killing is what we want and publishers are all to happy to fulfil the public’s blood-lust; whether we’re sniping Nazis with antique rifles, setting zombies on fire, blasting UFOs out of the sky, or hacking dozens, nay hundreds, of hapless soldiers to pieces with a sharper-than-it-looks Chinese fan, the art of murder has become a comfortable fixture in the majority of action games ... more

5 Stars "I am a blob, my name is Joe. Joe blob" Review with images 06/08/2006
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Bright, chirpy, and happy. What more can I say?

Disadvantages Disadvantages Gameplay gets repetitive fast. Level editor a let down.

-=-=NOTE=-=- Since LocoRoco is such a bizarre game, to help you poor souls out there who haven't played it understand a little better, please refer to my screenshots at the bottom of this review when you finish reading it. Not only will it show the pretty graphics, it will show off the features with little captions by me. All screenshots were taken by me by the in game screenshot camera, which I mention in the review. And with that, please read on! ------------------------------- D'you know what? Growing up is a funny thing. As we grow we are able to do more in life; smoking, drinking ... more

4 Stars A Weird and Wonderful World.. Review with images 25/08/2006
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Playability, addictive music, attractive graphics

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too short, poor extras, too much time where you are not controlling the game

I first heard about LocoRoco from a friend who told me I could download a demo game from the internet. The demo was in Japanese and I could not understand the instructions fully but I managed to get my way to the end of the stage and I was instantly hooked and knew I would be buying the game as soon as it was released in the UK. The game is very simple but extremely entertaining. The story is that further than the very best telescope can see there is a very content planet, home to the very cheerful LocoRoco. They live in harmony with the planet, look after the plants and sing and dance all day ... more

3 Stars Cute Fuzzy Graphics, But Somehow Lacking Review with images 28/08/2006
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Highly addictive visually and from a sound point of view

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tedious after a while, too much the same.

The first game I picked and played on my PSP is the rather odd Loco Roco. Loco Roco's cover boasts some rather delightful looking bugs and blobs, and is sure to appeal to the "arrrrrrr" game player simply by the cover alone. Having put the rather funky looking UMD disc in the back of my PSP I'm immediately greeted by a quirky little song and some rather psychedelic graphics. Indeed psychedelic is a good word for Loco Roco, I can literally envisage the games producers sat in there office popping ecstasy tablets. I don't know which is the more "trippy" the graphics or the sounds and music ... more

Advantages Advantages Simple and easy to pick up, entertaining and addictive

Disadvantages Disadvantages Childish looks may put some gamers off.

Rolling a singing ball from one side of the screen to the other, surely a handheld console with the power that the PSP possesses should be able to come up with better than this. I am of course under selling the magic of a truly great game. In all honesty my first sentence was my opinion of this game for a couple of years. I could not understand why all of the games critics and user reviews were so high. What could possibly make rolling a ball around a screen so good? I had no intention of ever buying this game and then 1 day I went into a shop and saw it was on special offer. I’m not sure what ... more
