    I've been on the pill now for about four years, and for three of these I've been taking Loestrin 20 which I've found to be a highly effective method of contraception with no side effects whatseoever. A far cry from the first year using the pill as a contraceptive method! Without wishing to scare any prospective pill-takers, my first pill (Microgynon) gave me every side effect in the book! I experienced weight gain, headaches, nausea (every day at 6pm) and I cried and cried and cried every day for several months until someone mentionned to me that perhaps it was my pill that was at fault and ... more

    Can't believe I am sitting here about to write a review on a contraceptive pill but I will give it my best shot. I havent attempted an op like this before as I, myself dont feel that I can do it........... I just read and rated anothers op there though on a different pill and thought, ok, why not? May as well give it a go............ What is it? Well this is a pill that is taken for 21 days of the month. (Some pills are not like this as some you take for the full 28 days.     Advantages Advantages Knowing when my period will arrive! Stops you from becoming pregnant!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Possibly risks such as Thrombosis, breast cancer and a long list of possible side effects!

    Please note this review is mainly about it's effectiveness of reducing bleeding during periods! Without wishing to bore you all to tears, I will give you some background information on why I'm taking the pill. Back when I first started secondary school at the age of eleven, some of my friends were talking about getting their periods and how they felt all grown up.     I first started taking Loestren 20 a week or so after my 16th birthday. I decided, at the legal age, I should go on the pill incase any "accidents" came up and I needed protection. I suppose, for a 16 year old to think like that, I must have been quite strange and presumptuous, but I didn't care too much and off I trotted to the doctors with my mom.     Loestrin 20.... Each Loestrin 20 tablet contains 1mg of norethisterone and 20micrograms of ethinyloestradiol. No, I don't understand it either. Like all other combined oral contraceptive pills, Loestrin 20 stops you from getting pregnant by thickening the cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to travel to the womb.     i have taken 2 packs bak to bak and have now had the 7day brake, 3rd day and still not came on, is it normal?

    i have taken two packets of loestrin back to back and now i am at the end id started the seven day brake, however i am on the 3rd day and still not came on. is there a chance i am pregnant or is it normal?

    Does loestrin 20 cause bad skin and weight gain? And do most people suffer with bad cases of spotting?

    My doctor has prescribed me with loestrin 20 as it has a lower hormeone content that the two pills I've been on previously (microgynon and dianette) as they both gave me acne, mood swings and weight gain. However Ive heard about cases of spotting and am wondering how bad they generally are? Also I was wondering if bad skin and weight gain are frequent side effects before I start taking it. Thanks!
