We like this one because unlike other 28in tv's it isnt very wide. This is beacuse the speakers are accross the bottom not at the side.
It incorporates dolby digital sound which does work. The only time we use the 5.1 surround now is when watching a film.
It can be upgraded so that your remote control can turn your lights up and down (very lazy i know but i am sure my hubby will want it cause he likes flashy things...lol).
The one annoying thing is that it has too many brains for a tv-which is something I actually liked about this tv-it auto detects whether something is being broadcast in widescreen/panoramic/ cine etc..but this also gets real annoying when you flick and sometimes it forgets (somehow-i dont know how). This means you have to use 2 remotes-the tv one and the sky one. It also keeps adjusting the sound so it ends up quite bassy. But this could all be beacuse hubby hasnt read the instruction book properly yet.
This tv looks great in my room. Beacuse of the way the speakers are at the bottom it actually has quite a retro look too it.
Another slight problem is-if something is running fast along the bottom of the screen (say for eg the current wonderwall on the lottery) it blurs so you cant read it without feeling sick. This is why I say uk tv hasnt caught up. Now this maybe because it is 100mhz (as i havnt seen any other 100mhz tv's whilst this is showing i cant tell).
The instructions are long winded and to date neither my hsband or I have had the time to sit and work them out yet-but we have had the tv for 2 months now and it works fine. We have figured out the buttons we need so far and one day we will sit down and look at the others.
The picture quality however is the best i have seen in a long time. this far outways any of the cons i have posted.
I can well recommend this tv. You will also join an elite group of people who know the loewe make. (prounounced louver).
Go and buy this tv.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
I asked hubby why we went for loewe instead of sony--we nearly got a sony. He says because the tv mags he was buying prior to the purchase said loewe were better for picture and sound quality. They also said that for looks (or athetics--forgive my spelling) Loewe were the best.
And thye kept saying hand built german quality..think hubby like the idea of the hand built tv.
Also we did go into one curry's shop (might have been comet-i always get them mixed up) in speke near liverpool. The sales guy nearly wet himself with anticipation as not many people know the Loewe name. He nearly couldnt contain himself thinking he would sell us one. We actually had no intention of buying through them as we knew we could get it cheaper searching the web--but we wanted him to think we were gonna buy from him. So funny-if you ever have a spare afternoon just go into the shop and ask them...lol

Hmm, I've seen Loewe TVs around but I'd probably always go for a Sony given the choice. Thanks for the review, Tom.
