Advantages: Cheap & Reliable Disadvantages: To many buttons in the middle
I have been playing on Rugby 06 for about 2 weeks before I decided to buy a controller to play the game on. I didn't really want to spend over £15. So I decided to buy this controller because it was in the half price sale, so I managed to get it for £5.
I found a problem while playing with my keyboard that I could not press more than 3 keys at once, so while you are trying to sprint, and move diagonally, it only allows you to do the last 2 buttons pressed, so it would not let you sprint, which got annoying. I found that with the controller I could press more than 3 buttons which allowed me do execute special moves.
To use the controller, you just plug it into the USB on you PC, and it will work because it is plug and play. This means that you do not have to install any drivers so can start playing with it sooner than you think ...
Advantages: Fits nicely into hand, No drivers Disadvantages: No Analogue sticks,Turbo button
Control stickssticking out of the front, which gives the controller a sleaker, smaller, sexier outlook. This can also be a negative though as controlling the players is not as easy as using the D-pad compared to the analog control sticks.
One negative is that when playing the FIFA game, you can sometimes press the annoyingly placed "Turbo,Slow,Clear" button. It totally messes up the controls and the players move around randomly! You then have to pressthe "Slow" button and then the "Clear" button after accidently pressing Turbo during the game (Trust me! That does happen!). Im not sure whether this has an effect during other games, or whether it just is a problem with EA Sports games....
Overall, for £9.99, this product lasted me over a years worth of daily playing on FIFA 2005. Eventually the D-pad broke, and i went straight back to comet ...
Advantages: inexpensive, comfortable, decent rumble effect, plenty of buttons. Disadvantages: basic driver, lack of rumble on/off switch
I have been a PC gamer for several years now, but I've mostly stuck to playing fps titles with the customary keyboard+mouse combo, so I've never really found it necessary to own a gamepad controller. However I recently got into an oldish driving game called Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 and having found it fun. I wanted to play it using a more suitable controller than my keyboard (I tried using a force feedback joystick I own, but I don't find it suitable for the game).
So I was on the lookout for a reasonably inexpensive gamepad to buy. I found this Logic3 one (model JP-274) online for £9.99 delivered, which seemed like a good deal all things considered (I didn't have much to spend, this being around Christmas!). Now, I wasn't expecting to find a rumble capable gamepad for this price, so this was a nice bonus, as was the similarity ...
