This is a review of the Logic3 PRO dance mat, a better and meaner version of the Logic3 dance mat. A dance mat is a video game controller made specifically for dance games such as Dancing Stage (UK version of Dance Dance Revolution), although they can be used with regular games. Dance games can be found for the PC, XBox, Playstation, PS2, some connect directly to the TV, and maybe some for some other games consoles, but the Logic3 Pro mat I am reviewing is for the Playstation (PSX) or Playstation 2 (PS2). Ive only got a PSX so have used the mat on that. You can use a regular joypad/joystick with dance games but that would be no fun. You can also use the dance mat as the controller for regular games, which would probably make them quite interesting and a lot more challenging. Would be a bit...

Advantages: Simple; easy to use for right handed people; does its job Disadvantages: Limited functionality; not recommended for left-handed players
... Basic Introduction
After purchasing the much sought-after latest version of Flight Simulator, I quickly decided that to get the most out of my new game I would need to purchase a joystick. At that time, I simply thought that all joysticks were the same and went for the cheapest option I could find; which turned out to be this Logic3 StarFighter.
This, like most other joysticks, was simply connected up to the PC using a USB port and, after some configuration (i.e. moving the throttle up and down to determine the lowest and highest it could go from on a normal scale - to be honest it didn't go very far at all and this was why, as I describe later on, the throttle doesn't have as much functionality as it could have. You also have to move the joystick around a few times to determine ITS limits - although they seemed OK...

Advantages: Easily adjustable with attached tool to suit users hand, lefties can adapt it for use quickly, 8 buttons, includes a twist control and a throttle. Disadvantages: No force feedback, slight problems with XP's Service Packs 1 and 2.
...~Summary~
I have used this joystick for over 18 months, with only a couple of minor glitches. It's easily adjustable to fit my hand size and can be made to fit a larger hand than mine. It can be adapted to suit a left-handed person very easily. This joystick is an entry-level stick for those wanting to play a flight simulation game without having to pay out too much cash or have an addition set of pedals for rudder control.
~Introduction~
The Saitek Cyborg Gold 3D USB is a modern joystick aimed at the PC flight simulation market with a long but descriptive name. It is made by Saitek and can be found in computer game shops or over the Internet. I got this stick at dabs.com for £27.02 (including VAT and delivery) in December 2003. It came in a box with an installation CD, a quick guide for setting up and a guide for installation...
