Logik L08DPF10 - Is it possible to remove the transition effects completely

Does anyone know if it is possible to turn off the transitional effects completely. I went into 'set up', then 'transition effects', and selected and OK'd 'Off' but it still has that checkerboard effect when the photos change. I would like just like the photos to come up one with nothing fancy going on. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you
