The microphone stick itself can be detached from its base and used as a hand held device but whilst it can be entirely dismantled with ease (so that it is just a mic on the end of a wire,) the stick itself is solid and cannot be manipulated, so should the user wish ... ...find it necessary to manoevre themselves so that they are speaking directly into it, as well as using the provided pad for doing so,. -- Due to its lack of malleability, and absence of an earphone, it is not possible to use this product as a headset.

The microphone stick itself can be detached from its base and used as a hand held device but whilst it can be entirely dismantled with ease (so that it is just a mic on the end of a wire,) the stick itself is solid and cannot be manipulated, so should the user wish to physically attach it to their computer, they would probably find it necessary to manoevre themselves so that they are speaking directly into it, as well as using the provided pad for doing so,. -- Due to its lack of malleability, and absence of an earphone, it is not possible to use this product as a headset.
For what it is, it is an outstandingly reliable and durable piece of equipment which is perfect for recording voices, and audio conferencing. If you wish to record more sophisticated audio such as live music or samples, I would recommend a more expensive microphone. This is only really any good for recording and sending speech (but is excellent at doing so.)
I have used it on many different computers with different codec packs and it seems to be entirely universal. It uses a standard audio line-in jack and does not need its own drivers.
