I would recommend this joystick to anyone who wants to get into good gaming or just casual gaming as it has some decent features for the price. For hardcore gamers I would recommend a higher end model as this is more for the beginners to more intermediate. ... more
THE BASICS: The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick has 12 buttons, an 8 way hat switch, throttle control, trigger. The joystick plugs straight into the USB port and comes with Logitech joystick drivers and a software to allow you to programme your joystick for specific games. Set up is quite easy and you will be gaming in no time. The joystick also features a handle twist control for things like rudder control. This adds another dimension to your gaming experience.
PLAYABILITY: The joysick is very useable for people of all ages. The only downside is that it is made for right-handers as the hand rest and some buttons are placed in a certain way and these cannot be adjusted. The throttle control is nice and smooth to use although I found it to be slightly looser than I would like but its not a big problem. I find the 8 way hat switch very easy to use because it is not too stiff and it is quite smooth. I think that the buttons are decently placed and there are enough buttons to be programmed to your liking.
Ergonomics: The joystick fits into hands quite well but may seem a bit big for smaller hands as there is no hand rest adjustment. The joystick fits nicely on to a desk or between your legs but I found that the throttle got in the way when it is between my legs. The joystick base is well weighted and can be placed almost anywhere.
Extra stuff: The joystick pivot area is covered by a rubber sleeve and this helps to stop dust getting in and reducing playability. The joystick itself may seem slighlty loose compared to other joysticks but it is still okay. The Logitech Extreme 3D pro works on both Mac and PC for great versatility.
I would recommend this joystick to anyone who wants to get into good gaming or just casual gaming as it has some decent features for the price. For hardcore gamers I would recommend a higher end model as this is more for the beginners to more intermediate.

Yes, it offers a total of twelve buttons. One trigger, four on the top, one thumb switch on the stick and six on the base. That is more than enough to cover the functions needed to get any budding pilot flying without too many moves to the keyboard. The last thing anyone needs it to have to look down at ... ...flaps so the Logitech scores full points there. The POV hat switch is a nice addition too, allowing you to easily glance out of any window you would like to choose, perfect for locating the airport or enemy.
The twist and throttle controls are also very responsive, or at least they used to be. Time has taken its toll and whereas I could perfectly control thrust to within a percent or two and "crab" my way through lighter crosswinds using the rudder ...

The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro - sounds cool, right? Well yes it is. The action is smooth when you buy it and has a twist function for rudder control, meaning that you can do some pretty cool manouvres in flight (if that's your game). So, a happy story with a happy ending - I have game, I kill people, I fly fast, high, low, smooth - and we all live happily ever after? Not quite.
3 months after buying the Joystick (J/s - too lazy to type it again) It ... ...and become MUCH less responsive. The J/s then, bizarrely, started to yaw to the right when I banked to the left - result? Stall or complete lack of control. The fault was that the wires to the top panel and control hat (little directional-pad on the top of the J/s) were too short and had wrenched the potentiometer controlling the twist function from its housing. This in turn had pulled a wire from the mini-socket on the circuit board. After some ...

Hi. I bought one of these joysticks about 4 months ago and have been pretty pleased with it. It has 12 buttons on it which you can program to do what you want it to do and has a twist stick, (for say controlling the rudder in an aircraft). So far I have had no major problems. Lest take a flying game for example. The feel of the joystick is nice and has a nice tension on it so when I say bank the aircraft it feels like you have to push the stick with ... ...just to point out it isn't force feedback ). The twist doesn't have as much force on it so does seem a little easy to turn but is fine though. The buttons are nicely placed so they are easy to get to. Now on to the bad points, the top hat does tend to need a bit of pressure sometimes to get it to stay where you want it to look but isn't a major thing. Also the twist doesn't always want to stay going straight but it is very minor and not enough to ...

Box says it is Mac Compatible, but Logitech includes only software for the PC. Though some features work, the joystick is a waste of money for Mac users. Logitech does not even have the decency to answer emails regarding software for Mac. False Advertising!!! DO NOT BUY ...
