When I got my new computer a few months ago, I received a very tacky wireless mouse with it. Immediately, I started searching for a new mouse and as I enjoy playing games, I went for this, the Logitech G5.

Basically, this mouse is designed for gamers as you can tune the sensitivity for different uses. You can also customise the weight of the mouse to your liking. The mouse comes with a small tin that contains eight 1.7g and eight 4.5 g weights. The weight cartridge is on the underside of the mouse so all you have to do is pick the weight you want and then slide the tray in the cartridge opening.

Changing the weight isn't the only customisable feature this mouse comes with though for there are two buttons placed under the scroll wheel. These two buttons enable you to alter the sensitivity of your mouse. The standard is set to 800dpi which is for day-to-day use, the one above is the monster 2,000dpi which is obviously for super fast movement, and the one below is 400dpi which is really for slow and precise movement. If you are playing a first person shooting game and wanted to be a sniper, you would most likely prefer a heavier mouse and a lower dpi. On the other hand if you want to run and gun, a lighter mouse and a higher dpi would suffice. A utility called Logitech Setpoint is included with the mouse which allows you to program two additional dpi settings to your preference.

The other buttons include the two main left and right buttons, a scrollwheel and a thumb button which is on the left side of the mouse making not the best mouse for left-handers. The scrollwheel allows you to make the movement up and down, but also lets you scroll from side to side. The logitech mouse before the G5 was the MX518 which had two thumb buttons which is a nicer feature to have than a tilt scrollwheel. This stand-alone thumb button can be set to go back or forward on a web page, cruise up and down. You can also set it to do other things that you may find useful.

A problem that some people might get is that it an fell unresponsive at some times on some mouse mats. I use a steelpad and now and again it does feel slow and unresponsive. This doesn't happen very often but can be abit annoying when it does occur.

Overall, I like this mouse a lot and for gamers it is a really good choice, you can change the sensitivity with ease and to how you like and you can also change the weight to your liking, but it does have the odd problem such as only one thumb button, the responsiveness isn't always great and that it is designed for right handers.
