Where do I start? To put it simply, the Logitech G9 is the best mouse I have ever invested in.
The design of the mouse is exotic, it boasts quite a square feel compared to some of it's other gaming competitors like the Razer Lachesis, but it fits perfectly in your hand. This is helped along with 2 grips that come with the mouse; the Wide Load + Precision grip. The names are pretty much explanatory, the satin texture and fuller shape of Wide Load add extra comfort while the DryGrip technology and compact shape of the Precision grip give you unmatched fingertip control. If neither of these take your fancy, you have a third option which reaches the boundary of mouse customization, the ID Grip allows you to put the image you want on the palm of your G9 mouse!
This mouse becomes maxed out at 3200 dpi which is more than enough speed for those first person shooter situations, combine this with full-speed usb (1000 reports per second) and you will never miss those headshots again. If you are the xcore-type and wish to switch binds/dpi settings mid-game, then this is the mouse for you. The G9 has on-board memory which allows you to house custom profiles which stores DPI, bind and macro settings and you can even change the colour of the LED display on the top of the mouse to whatever you want.
The G9 is all about customizability. There is a weight slot to the rear of the mouse which is a small plastic case that holds small 4g and 7g weights, (Maximum weight = 4x 7g= 28g).
This mouse means you will have the ultimate control. Polytetrafluoroethylene feet means that the mouse will glide effortlessly across almost any surface, it would be impossible for me to say that I experience any friction when using mine, even after long periods of time.
The new patented technology- MicroGear™ Precision Scroll Wheel is really handy both on and off the battlefield. There is a small button on the underside of the mouse which toggles between your mouse-wheel being click-to-click like your normal mouse or free-scroll which means that the scroll wheel can freely spin with one stroke. Think about having pages and pages of web pages or word documents, with that option, you can spin the scroll wheel and it will continue spinning and consequently streaming through the document. This is very nifty in game, binding fire to the your mouse wheel gives you an amazing advantage which is as good as some hacks except it is totally legal, free-wheel scrolling can turn your semi-auto pistol into a fully-auto mean-machine.
The side buttons add extra convenience, acting as a forward and back button for when browsing web pages and can obviously be binded in game just like the other 8. This can easily be done with the media that comes with this mouse, the set points drivers come with the macro editor and bind settings for the mouse and is ok to use for the intermediate-experience users. I believe that the macro editor would be difficult to use for the novice but tutorials can be found on the internet.
Pricewise, I think the G9 is good, nothing more, nothing less. I bought mine from a friend for £18 (bargain) however, I will act realistically and base my decision on the RRP of approximately £40. For what you are getting this is a good price, however- other mice such as the Typhoon Sureshot Gaming mouse can house quite the punch and for half the price. But who has heard of one of them? The build quality and branding of Logitech can't really be compared in the peripheral market.
In all- I recommend the Logitech G9 to anyone searching for a new mouse, especially gamers but for casual users too. The customizability options are endless and life is made easier with macros, binds and profiles which can be taken anywhere with the on-board memory.
Advantages: High DPI, on board memory, Interchangable weights and DPI settings Disadvantages: None
...Logitech pulled out all the stops while designing the mouse, and included a nice addition of on-the-fly DPI switching, ever useful to the FPS gamer, with a total of four settings at hand to the user, all of which are customisable to a specific DPI gives the mouse great versatility and makes it ideal for a family mouse. The G9 also includes on-board memory, so no matter where you take the mouse, no matter what laptop or desktop, the DPI settings will ... ...last gimmick worth mentioning is that the DPI lights located on the mouse are actually changable in a light blue-to-deep-red spectrum. Although it does serve no specific reason, it can assisst colour co-ordination at your desktop! All in all, a fantastic mouse with a high DPI for gamers, simple to use, plugs right into a USB port with no installation required. Highly recommended. ...

With the corded G9 mouse, gamers can enjoy interchangeable grips, on-the-fly dpi switching ranging from 200 dpi to 3200 dpi, full-speed USB laser tracking, an onboard-memory profiling system, weight tuning, a custom-color LED and the hyper-fast MicroGear Precision Scroll Wheel, which was introduced last year and is exclusive to Logitech. To help gamers get the best fit, the Logitech G9 mouse features a wealth of customizable features, including two interchangeable grips: Wide-Load grip and Precision grip. Designed to deliver comfort even during the longest gaming sessions, the Wide-Load grip provides a fuller shape and soft-touch, satin feel, while the Precision grip's DryGrip technology and compact shape offer fingertip control and a surer handle for any hand. For an even more comfortable feel, the G9 mouse allows for customized weight tuning and weight distribution. The innovative weight-tuning system enables gamers to choose from among hundreds of weight settings by inserting up to four additional weights in the mouse's weight tray, adding up to a maximum of 28 grams. In total, gamers can choose from eight additional weights.Using the new Logitech SetPoint software, gamers can create a number of profiles for their mouse. And with the mouse's onboard memory, gamers can take their personalized settings anywhere - it's no longer necessary to install SetPoint software on the gaming rig every time a gamer changes computers. A full-speed USB connection delivers up to 1,000 reports per second for smooth tracking without cursor lagFinally, the G9 laser mouse features the MicroGear Precision Scroll Wheel. Using a toggle mechanism on the bottom of the mouse, gamers can choose between precise click-to-click scrolling that is perfect for weapon selection, or nearly frictionless hyper-fast scrolling.
