Advantages: Control many devices using Infrared - easy to setup Disadvantages: Can't control bluetooth or FM devices
The LogitechHarmony 525 AdvancedUniversalRemote is used to control multiple devices in audio and visual systems (ie your tv, video, digital box, music players etc)
Currently we use one to control an AV receiver, digital box and projector. Personally i think this is the best one i've used.
Although initially to set up takes a bit of time
(you have to load a program onto a computer and then add devices to the remote using the provided usb cable),
the time it saves in day to day use and the practicality of one remote makes it a worthwhile task.
If there is not a system listed that you want to control it has a neat feature which allow you to add other 'unknown' remote signals - its so easy - you just tell it you're going to add an 'unknown' and then point the 'unknown' systems remote at the logitechremote and it asks ...
Advantages: Simple to use, great interface, simple to program Disadvantages: None
We have DVD player, receiver, two sat boxes (Sky + Free to air European channels), TV. It was not a fun holding 5 remotes trying to find a right button. The remote you would need would always be hidden and missing somewhere.
We bought LogitechHarmony 525 2 years ago. I knew it would work for me as I am a gadget man. I was slightly apprehensive about my wife and worried about my in-laws (when they come to visit us). I thought it might be too techie thing for them.
It turned out as a very simple to use. I have setup 4 activities - Sat1, Sat2, DVD and CD. You program it on Logitech site using web interface and then sync your remote via USB cable. When you click say SAT1 button all necessary devices would turn on (TV, receiver (I listen TV sound over speakers), SAT box). When you press off button all devices are switched off.
You ...
Advantages: easy to use, beautiful to look at, full of features Disadvantages: Not always perfect, a bit pricey
Being an Audio Visual enthusiast and a massive geek, my lounge is stuffed full of all sorts of seperates that require remotecontrols. From my 7.1 denon amp to my Sony HDD CD player. So a grand total of 5 remotecontrols had to find a home on the coffee table or bookshelf and it was driving my wife nuts. Especially when she picked the wrong controller and was trying to turn the TV up with the DVD remote. If you had more than one piece of equipment on, its a pain to have to use multiple controllers to turn them off or simply adjust settings.
For a long while I'd wanted a remote to do it all, more so though, I wanted one with a touch screen. After all, who doesn't love touch screen?
So, I did a little research on the the internet and surfed over to www.avforums.com amoung other sites. The logitechharmony range had rave reviews ...
