The mouse comes in a large box and is encased in plastic. I actually scratched my new mouse trying to remove it from the plastic, because I ended up having to use scissors to get it out, so I pretty annoyed because of that. Don't use sharp edges to get the mouse out because you WILL scratch it like I did. Just use your hands to try and force it out. Believe me you will need a lot of force.
With the mouse you get a Bluetooth connector, a charging stand, and the usual instructions / setup CD. The instructions surprisingly tell you nothing; they go on about features more than actual setup.
Installation of the mouse itself is a breeze; all you do is plug in the Bluetooth connector, wait a minute, turn on your mouse and you're good to go. You have to also install Logitech's SetPoint software if you want the ability to configure all of the mouse's buttons.
Now seems a good time to mention the functions of the MX Revolution. The most obvious thing to note is that there are two wheels. The thumb wheel can be configured to do anything (as with all the buttons) but I find it most useful for the Document Flip feature. The other wheel is the scroll wheel. Hands down, this is the best scroll wheel I have ever used. The hyper-fast scrolling feature is addictive, so much so you will find it difficult to use other mice without this feature. The scroll wheel has SmartShift technology, which means it knows when to use hyper-fast scrolling and normal scrolling or something. I turned this feature off because it just didn't work for me, and I was just so in love with the hyper-fast scrolling!
The other buttons are a back and forward rocker and a search button, which launches your favourite search application.
The mouse fits well in your hand and the laser precision is noticeable compared with optical. The mouse has a good range, meaning that you can use it far away from the computer.
Overall I love this mouse. Although it's not quite as much of a revolution as I had hoped it to best, the mouse looks stunning and the hyper-fast scrolling is a must.
