Logitech S-120

Logitech Inc. have for some time now been a leading manufacturer in everything from mice to keyboards to USB hubs to webcams and microphones. They are therefore a brand name you can trust - and for once logitech appear to have a made a reasonably priced product for once. However, these sleek black PC multimedia speakers do have a couple of drawbacks.

This speaker system comprises of no more than 2 speakers, so you can forget surround sound - especially since they are only equipped with a 4ft audio cable, making it extremely difficult to set the speakers up as far apart from each other as most Logitech consumers would like - having said that this is a problem most of their speakers have.

This speaker configuration also does not have a separate bass speaker or 'subwoofer' as most other systems do, this is perhaps why this speaker system is so cheap, Whether this is a problem or not is up to you: large bass boxes give better bass efficiency and power output, but add to the cost of the speaker. Smaller boxes provide better dispersion and frequency response, but without the realism.

Not only this but there is not even a bass control - only a volume control and a power on/off control, meaning you are pretty much unable to set the bass to a preferred level - unless you have additional computer software, such as Windows Media Player.

The specs of the speakers themselves are as follows; a response bandwidth of 50 - 20000 Hz which is adequate, but again low bass sounds at around 20Hz will not sound as good as they could and a nominal output power (total) of 2.3 Watt which is unremarkable for speakers such as these.

All in all, I would not really recommend these speakers - there are slightly more expensive speaker systems which are far better in both sound quality and system configuration. However, if you are needing some small speakers that are easy to set up and lightweight these would be the ones for you.
