This webcam is excellent value, costing around £30. For your money you get the camer and some software for it.
The camera has quite a long lead on it, and a USB connection to connect it to your computer. It was easy to install. Just plug it in, and install the software. No hassle at all. I would say that is is the easiest piece of hardware that I have bought to install (with the exception of things like keyboard and mouse that just plug in!)
The software has a number of features. You can take pictures and video, create picture or video e-mails, make a web albumn and make a live webcam.
Pictures and Video: When you select to create a picture or video, you get a window with a live preview of the camera. You then click the button to either take a picture or record video. There are a number of options, like 'Wait x seconds before taking picture'. Any picturs and video you take are stored in your gallery.
Picture and Video E-mails: This is basically the same process as taking a picture or video, but when the picture is take onr the video recorded it automatically creates an e-mail and attatches the picture, and includes instructions on how to view the picture or video. All You have to do is put in the address you want the e-mail sent to, and add any personal message you want.
Making a web album: With this option you can create a photo album to put on the internet. You select what pictures you want to include from your gallery, and it makes them into an HTML album. It creates a page of thumbnails (small versions of the pictures), which when clicked on loads the full size image. You can name your album and add descriptions. You do need some webspace for this, but you can get this from Logitech's Spotlife service.
Live webcam: You can also create a live webcam. This is basically a webpage with a picture taken from your camera. You can set it to update every x seconds or minutes. You need some webspace for this too, and need to be connected to the internet for it to update.
The camera also comes with the software Microsoft Netmeeting. This allows you to speak to other people using a microphone, and lets them see live video of you. if the other person has a camera you can see them too. It is like a phone with video! Great for keeping in touch with relatives and friends who you don't get to see very often.
You have to make sure that when you are using the camera you have a good source of light shining on you otherwise the picture is dark and not very good quality.
Overall this is a very good addition to any computer system.
