Disadvantages CMOS based webcams need lots of light

It's based on CMOS tchnology, which in terms of picture quality is not as good as 'conventional' webcam CCDs. CMOS cams need A LOT of light to give good results. I found a desk light was a must have. Although the documentation doesn't say so, the cam can capture up to 640x480, although video is very slow at this high resolution. For stills though, this is very handy to know.
lets you capture stills or short AVI videos, adjust contrast, brightness levels etc and is entirely usable. There is a 'patch' available to Windows ME users which I'd say is worth downloading. You can spend a good deal more money on a webcam than this, but in my opinion, this is perfectly adequate as a basic functional device.
