Personally, Logitech have done a fantastic job with the styling of the camera. It now however comes the time to discuss the key aspects of the webcam. There are several points here which I would like to discuss:

This web camera (webcam) was a quite expensive webcam that in my opinion is quite a good webcam for the first time home user that doesn't need anything too fancy...

The Camera

Now I have a few moans and groans to get over and done with before I can continue on about this camera. Firstly even in the space of less than 2 metres I have noticed how tense the cable between the webcam and my computer is. This means that there is not enough cable length for showing off your room for instance or taking your camera round the house or office. Now, the actual picture of the quality could be better. It is quite good at 5 MP but even here when zoomed in on any point the picture tends to go fuzzy and so I recommend for you not to zoom in at all in my opinion. The camera has other resolution and MP modes but these tend to be even worse with the zoom than the 5MP one which is 2592x1944 resolution. Finally in this section, I could not get the microphone to work and so this ruined the experience a tad. However those are all the bad points of the camera so read on to discover for yourself what a brilliant starter webcam this really is!

Styling

Now, on to the style of the camera: overall the camera features a design which will look good against both a silver monitor frame and of course that of a black one as well. The actual camera is spherical which I think adds a great value to it in the sense that in which every angle the webcam is pointing, its position does not look out of place as it may do with a camera that may have a cube like design.

• I bought this camera originally for its apparently easy to use and firm hold back clip for easy positioning on a laptop or monitor screen. However, I soon found that the clip is not as strong as Logitech may say it should be. It is very flexible and easy to use which I can truly and honestly say is very true but the overall functionality of the clip does not live up to its standards on the box.
• Secondly, there are two other functions on the webcam system itself. There is a privacy shade which in my opinion is a feature that a webcam cannot ever not have. There are also different pictures which you can set for the user on the viewing end to view while you have the privacy shade enabled. Secondly and finally, there is a quick capture button on the right hand side of the web camera. In my opinion this is an unnecessary feature since when pressing this button to take a photo of yourself your hands are not both free and therefore the picture does not turn out that good in my opinion. Nevertheless this is still a great option for taking pictures of your room for instance.

Computer software

This webcam comes with one computer CD-ROM from which all necessary drivers are installed and so is the webcam software for your computer. This software work=s with windows vista and apparently should also work with windows 7 when it is released although I have not tried this myself yet. The CD contains a very simple and easy to use Logitech wizard to install firstly your camera hardware and then the actual computer software in easy to follow and easy to do steps. Now I will discuss the key aspects of the computer software with you.

• Firstly there is the quick capture mode which is the first icon on your Logitech menu bar. The quick capture mode can take videos and capture photos of you or where ever you point the camera. This is a well designed mode with the camera now being able to take widescreen video and photo shots as well as in standard 4:3 mode. It also contains many types of different resolutions in order to give you many options based on your power and quality needs. Personally I think that a very good feature here is being able to upload your captured video directly to YouTube or being able to send a photo via email as well as printing it out straight away. There is always the option of deleting the item at a touch of a button should you not want the shot anymore.
• The next icon on the toolbar is the video effects icon. Using this piece of technology you can add fun effects to your webcam conversations such as a crown on top of your head or glasses for instance. There are also avatars and items with eyes and a mouth so it looks like your are actually talking through these characters which include a moon, alien and may more... This is one of the greatest achievements of this camera as it makes full use of the newest face mapping technology available and can detect exactly where your nose, mouth, and top of head are at any one time. This enables the system to stick the fun accessories or avatars to your face and therefore adding a very technologically advanced and fun conversation to your life. Fun filters are also available which can alter your image to make it blurred or distorted in may shape, ways and forms.
• Quickly, there are two more options. Firstly, the privacy shades settings which allow you to choose a picture to be activated when the privacy shad is active. However there are only 3 pictures to choose from and you cannot use your own. Secondly, the help menu is where you can find help and manuals as well as ask other users as to if they could help you in anyway. You can also download additional Logitech software here too.
• The settings menu. As I will now briefly explain, there are many functions which are: Webcam settings, letting you do things such as pan and tilt and zooming in as well as a face tracking feature being present. Here you can also adjust the colour and brightness of the image on screen. Audio settings, which let you control your microphone which is inbuilt into the Logitech quick cam. Right light settings, which is a Logitech light in built in to your camera. It may not look very bright but the difference on screen when it is on is visibly different. I have however not found a way yet to switch this feature off. Finally you can select the folders to store the camera files in as well as the email client that will open up should you want to send photos or videos.
