I just needed a simple functional USB microphone for my computer so I could make voice calls over Messenger. This one was only 11£ and by the very well known Logitech so I got it.
It comes in a sealed plastic case with a warranty, instructions and its about 1.5metre length of USB cable.
To use it I thought I would have to install some drivers but it turns out you just plug it in the back and presto, it's on! You can see it is on by seeing a green light on the button. If it doesn't turn on right away, press the button as it probably is turned on mute.
It was immediately recognized by the computer and was fast and easy to setup on messenger which was my mane purpose for it. I have used it for audio recording as well and since it has a very high quality of recording its perfect!
A really neat feature of this mic that stands out is the button on its base stand. It is used to turn off the mic or turn it back on. It is a very big help for if the phone rings and instead of shutting off the conversation you can just hit that.
The base is quite weighty so don't worry about the USB cable dragging it off the desk which is a problem some small mic's have. The trouble however is that this mic cannot be stuck to the monitor or a wall near you to get it off your desk- it has to remain on your desk surface so if you have a cluttered desk… perhaps you may not want to add to it. It can pivot up and down on its stand although I do not find I need it to do this but if you want to stick it behind your computer and poke it through under the monitor I'm sure it could. Also it can be popped off of its stand to hold in your hand so you don't have to hold a bulky stand with it. I suppose it can be used when doing presentations in front of an audience or something.
When talking, it is very sensitive to sound so you don't have to shove it right up into your face. It can be comfortably sitting on your desk and you wont have to worry if the other person can hear you or not clearly- because they can.
If you are on the budget there are always going to be alternatives to be found for a lot cheaper. Also if you need a headset you may as well get that instead of a desktop mic as it will pick up sound emitted via your speakers so it does echo. Check out other alternatives to this mic on www.ebuyer.com. startign for about 1£ although remeber you get what you pay for.
In conclusion, a quite pricey mic but it was 100% worth it. If this mic does meet your needs and you want a high quality, sturdy, easy to usemouse you can trust, then I highly recommend this product to you.
