With All-Terrain Laser performance, the Logitech V400 Laser Cordless Mouse for Notebooks delivers true mobility without boundaries. Two key technologies separate the V400 Laser...
more...Cordless Mouse for Notebooks from the rest of the pack. First, the V400 is the first mouse to use a dual laser-tracking engine. Developed jointly by Logitech and Philips Laser Sensors, the dual laser engine is based on Philips Twin-Eye Laser technology, using two lasers to detect microscopic surface variations. The result is all-terrain performance merged with pixel-precise tracking. The other key technology, Logitech 2.4 GHz Digital Cordless, provides the most powerful and reliable cordless experience available. Unlike conventional 27 MHz wireless mice, which have shorter, less consistent range and can be susceptible to interference from nearby metal surfaces and other mice, 2.4 GHz enables a consistent 30-foot range, virtually interference-free operation, and plug-and-play performance. The V400: Built from the ground up to provide uncompromised mobile performance, wherever and whenever you need it.

I got this mouse to use with my laptop because using the wee pad can be pretty annoying and using a mouse is much, much easier. This mouse is pretty basic nothing too fancy nothing too expensive. I picked this up for just under £20 which I though was pretty good. It doesn't have many extra buttons for anything really fancy but I don't need that.

Within the box was the mouse, a single AA battery, the USB key, a disk with utilities on it and a simple instructions manual. So it came with everything needed, batteries included. The mouse itself is robust and a good shape. My fingers do hang off the edge a bit but it's big enough. It has the basic 3 buttons and the scrolling wheel but with 2 extra programmable buttons or you can use this for forward and backward scrolling. The two extra buttons look they are independent when they are actually on a sort of see-saw which is not very good but no great problem. It is a two tone mouse and has been said to be the SUV of mice. The orange version of this mouse backs that up. The orange one is brighter but no different in any other way.

The main problem I have had with travel mice in the past is that they are too small and are hard to use. I don't see why manufactures don't realize this and make them bigger but Logitech have and that's why I got this mouse. It's a good bit bigger than the last one I had and I can still carry it around with me easily.

It's a laser mouse so it is more accurate and has no annoying red glow from underneath it. I don't think the accuracy thing really is that big a deal unless you are playing games on your computer a lot which isn't what I do or doing something else involving some sort of accuracy. The red glow from optical mouse's is annoying and having a laser gets rid of it but I am not sure if it's worth the extra money but this wasn't too expensive. It runs well over pretty much any surface so you don't really need a mouse mat but I use one anyway because I have a wrist rest on mine which I do love to have.

It's really easy to install just plug and play. I put the USB key in and it found a drive installed it and I was ready to go. One of the few USB plug and play devices I haven't had problems with which was good. This is good but it is worth installing the utilities on the disk as they give the options of programming the two extra buttons on the mouse. The fact the mouse is quite big so the USB key fits in neatly underneath it when not in use.

It has exceptional range and can be used from a good distance away from the computer if you are doing a power point presentation from it and just need to click to change slide. I don't need to go far away from my laptop though but at close range it works well so im not complaining.

Having a AA battery to run it on is a great relief for me because I hate having to recharge every other electrical piece of equipment. I have too many cables and its just getting a bit far I can't see why manufactures can't decide on a simple solution but I guess they wouldn't make as much money like that. This mouse doesn't have this problem though. The battery life time is good and the mouse has a sleep setting so if you are not using it for a certain amount of time it'll have a little nap and stop wasting power.

It being made by Logitech means it very reliable and made well. There website is pretty easy to use and if I ever did need help then I would know I could go straight to them about any problems.

So all in all it's a good mouse well worth getting in my point of view. Good size good money all round good. Nothing really special though. Not much more I can say so, bye.
