I purchased this set of speakers after selling my set of Z5400, which was identical to this set, save for the digital control.
At 500W RMS, this speaker set will get things going. I have had mine for about a year, and only one did I ever turn the volume up past the three-quarter mark - and that was just a test!
Connected to a pc with a 5.1 channel output, this set really shines as a home theatre speaker system, with excellent sound quality, clarity and positioning and a bass that can either "pound, rumble or kick", according to a few of my friends.
One nice thing about this system was that there were no RCA or proprietry connectors from the amplifier located on the back of the subwoofer to the rest of the speakers - so if the supplied cord was not long enough, you could just head down to RadioShack and get as cable you needed. (Previous systems used RCAs to connect the satellites to the amp, so you would either have to cut the cord and do your own thing or get a cord coupler).
All satellite speakers were wall mountable, or could just sit there on the desktop, without any modification at all, although accessory floor stands would not be unwelcome.
A word of caution, though - unlike all previous "computer speakers" which were designed for use near a computer, keep the subwoofer FAR away from your CPU tower or other electrical equipment, since the amplifier is mounted externally, and there is no discernable magnetic protection.
I first tested this system with a series of mp3s and a couple DVDs and then some games during the frist couple weeks I had it.
Games which I had played previously (with the same sound card and pc setup, save for the speakers) sounded completely different, with sounds I had not noticed before - I was actually using sounds to determine if players were sneaking up on me (Unreal Tournament 2004), or if cars were right on my trail (Need for Speed: Most Wanted) and in certain games, echo and certain aspects could be heard, which were not audible before.
Mp3s were crisp and clear - although the bass was quite powerful (I have the bass set on the lowest possible setting) for certain types of music.
There was no particular strong point for this speaker system since it excelled at everything I threw at it - heck, I even DJ'd a small party with this at home (don't tell the cops).
Advantages: VERY powerful, internal electronics very well-built (never had any electrical problems with this unit, and I use it every weekend) Disadvantages: the LCD control panel can be sometimes hard to read because there is no adjustable contrast; you would never get to put the volume up because you would either have to sound proof the room or secure all your glassware in the kitchen.

Advantages: The Sound clarity, design of speakers, price, ease of setup, Disadvantages: size of the Sub, Wired and not wireless satellites, AND NEIGHBOURS MAY COMPLAIN ABOUT LOUDNESS!
