Many years behind the DVD revolution, time placed a weightily burden upon my shoulders. A voice (I call materialism) begged and nagged at me to purchase a DVD. Now being a youthful chap my requirements of a DVD player was as follows. Silver is cool and multi region is very cool.

While at Jungle.com I noticed a product that fitted my ‘cool’ description…almost. Okay so the Logix 3000 it advertised wasn’t silver but it seemed to have the capabilities to play anything and everything. So I sat and debated whether or not to purchase the item. Luckily my generous girlfriend dipped into her large pockets and bought it for me. God bless our loved ones!

So the DVD arrived. Taking it out the box became a bit of a shock. Not only did the unpleasing and rather cheap looking black case cause an eyesore but also, the size resembled a beta max video (only exaggerating…its not that big!). Regardless I set it up in no time. The years of waiting had come to an end; I was now ready to hang out with the DVD home-boyz!

Two months later I can say I've put this player to the test. Buying many Region 2 DVDs and stretching out to Region 1. While inserting my first region 1 disc I held my breath (not for too long) and I was slapped with ultimate joy when the disc played first time. I’ve also tested the player with the new encrypted Region 1 discs, ‘RCE’. It plays them too (I had to adjust some of the settings in the firmware but within 20 seconds I was in business). Only recently have I discovered that the player struggles with the new Region 1 ‘Seven’ collector’s addition. There is upgraded firmware about which I hope will resolve this. I’ve also played Video CD, MP3 and CD audio discs all with no problems. The quality is spot on; both sound and picture far exceeded my expectations. The player is both Dolby Digital and DTS ready. It wasn’t long before I had a new set of speakers to test that too (the money came from my tight pockets this time). The results are over whelming. I couldn’t recommend a first time DVD more highly!
