Advantages: free film Disadvantages: not local, inability to answer e-mails quickly
I received a free film etc from Lomo, and decided to give it a try.I waited over a week for my films to appear on line, and for the photos etc tobe received. I then ordered reprints over the net, that was nearly three weeks ago, and I am still waiting. I e-mailed them numerous times, and eventually received a reply saying my money would be refunded if the photos were not received this week end. I shall be taking future films to the local developer. So much for their boast of 33 hours to receive films.
If you want to be kept waiting this is the company to use. I did receive one reply in a foreign language, which I did not understand, my e-mail was in English.Once I sorted out the site , which I found confusing the quality was good. I thought the idea of a C.D. with the pictures on was good, but I can now get this service locally. ...
Advantages: Different quality to pictures, easy to use Disadvantages: Not for professionals
I discovered the LC-A after seeing a spread in a magazine on this much loved little camera. What attracted me was the colours in the photos and the rather cavalier method of taking pictures - people's elbows, blurred ceilings, awkward shots of the sky, everything seemed to look beautiful. At the time I bought it, it was about 75-80 quid, which at the time I thought was a little pricey, but there's nothing around quite like it. I got a little box containing film, instructions, a book, and signed up to the 'club' (so you get letters and emails about new products and events).
The camera itself is quite small (slightly smaller than those larger post-it notes ...
Advantages: Unique unpredictable images, great for capturing motion, dirt cheap Disadvantages: Must be bright/sunny conditions, very unrealiable!
- - - ACTION SAMPLER OVERVIEW- - -
This camera is made by the same Russian camera company the made the famous Spy Camera the Lomo LC-A . Using the same lens technology to create the beautiful and unpredictable photographs [called Lomographs] that capture four images with four lens / shutter - each shutter snapping the image one at a time, on standard 35 mm film.
The result? "Animated photographs", since each lens takes one tiny image per corner of the exposure, a fraction of a second apart, each of your printed photographs are split into four quarters, so you get four mini "moving" images per photo!
The camarea has a unique clockwork mechanism, where the see-through plastic body allows you to see the whole process at work. When you take a picture, the multi-coloured cogs spring into life, the four shutters click ...
