"London's premier airport"

London Gatwick puts London Heathrow airport to shame, this is a modern, clean and well presented airport.

Gatwick is served by many transport links and is well situated for access to central London.

On arrival at Gatwick it is a pleasant surprise to see concise and clear signage directing the passenger to where they want to be. There is ample long and short-stay car parking and free bus services to and from these at regular intervals.

There are two terminals, North and South, even though these are quite a distant apart there is an excellent monorail link between the two. This service is free and there is a train every three minutes.

The check-in areas are bright, well layed out and easy to find your way around. Like most airports these can be quite busy in the height of the season.

Within the check-in area there are ample facilities such as toiletes, cafes, money changing facilities and numerous shops, the best feature is the information desk where friendly staff ease your journey through the airport.

Once through passport control, you enter an expansive area, which again is modern, immacuately clean and well presented. This again is well laid out, with ample seating and numerous shops, cafes, banks and other facilities expected of a modern international airport.

The departure gates are siuated near the departure lounge, even though some of these can take up to fifteen minutes to get to, but there are modern moving walkways to save your legs. Within the departure gate there are facilities such as duty free shops, cafes and ample toilets. There is more than adequate seating at individual gates, with drinks and confectionary machines.

I have flown out of all London airports and they all put Heathrow to shame and in my opinion Gatwick should be London's number one airport.

I avoid Heathrow at all costs but its downfall is due to it getting too big. It is far too crowded. At the moment however, it still has the widest selection of scheduled flghts that are not available at Gatwick so in terms of destinations it will remain number one. I personally prefer Stansted to Gatwick mainly because its my nearest airport and if it had a few more facilities it would be even better.

I did wish you'd gone into more detail about some things. I think, for example, a whole op could be done on the shops and cafes, which are very important when one's hanging about for a plane.
