Advantages London location, amazing professors, smart and worldy students
Disadvantages Not the right program if you are not interested in the social sciences
I attended the London School of Economics (LSE) for the summer session. The summer session runs in two three week modules, where there's a plethora of courses to choose from, ranging from management classes (think marketing, negotiations, organizational structures), to economic history courses, to what seemed to be very popular, the accounting and finance courses. The finance class I enrolled in was very challenging, the material was cutting edge, and the students in the class were from not only Britain, but the European Union, Canada, and several countries in Asia. There were working professionals in the classes, as well as university students from the UK, and abroad. We learned about discounted cash flow analysis, beta, risk, correlations, CAPM, all concepts suitable for careers in investment banking or consulting.
The school is in the heart of London, so there is plenty to see, do, and eat! Museums are nearby, there are plenty of top restaurants in the area, as well a bar/pub for those that like to socialize. The school put on several meet and greets, as well as a couple of parties as well, all of which were wicked fun!
The library is also amazing; it was a great place to meet other students here as well! There are also several housing options; I opted to choose an off-campus apartment, which worked out really well.
