So Here it is, Next to Gears of war this was the most anticipated title for the 360 (ignoring halo3) The Demo cropped up on the Marketplace ages ago and became one of the most downloaded demos to date, it gave a stunning glimpse into the 360s future. The future is here....but only graphically.
I could write a few paragraphs about the plot, but its pointless as the plot is defiantly a meaningless addition. Although there is nothing wrong with it as such, it feels like the story has been constructed around the game rather than the other way around. You may watch the cut sequences once, but on a second play through you will be hammering the buttons in order to skip them. The main selling point of this game is the graphics, and they are stunning. Because Lost planet is set in a snowy wasteland, capcom have been able to strike an amazing contrast between the bright crisp snow, and the futuristic steel structures. Games think this are why we upgrade to the latest systems. Every nook and cranny is graced with a HD shine, every character has a perfect presence in the game world. Things like this just weren't possible a year ago, and it proves that Capcom have taken great care in crafting this work of art.
The thing is, Gamplay wise it feels like a step back. The third person run and gun system is well implemented but to be honest its nothing new. Its still fun though, trudging through the snow with a shotgun armed blasting an alien across the screen is very satisfying. The weapon balance is very well handled. The standard weapon is a machine gun. It dose a fair amount of damage and can sure spray bullets. Although you can only hold 2 weapons at one time, you may find yourself holding on to it because the game throws a lot of ammo at it for you. Other weapons such as sniper rifles and rocket launchers gives the player another form of expression, however since the rocket launcher sends baddies flying and causes a lovely explosion you will always favour it. It is quite a tough little cookie though, the constant onslaught of enemies and the worry of the cold sapping your health really provide a challenge. In an age where games are tailored to mean that even the most terrible of game players can see the end credits, it may prove too much.
The collectors edition provides a few extra features. Such as:-

Premium packaging in a sleek SteelBook metal case. Exclusive art book with concept sketches from all stages of development including character renders, VS renders and enemy art. Wallpapers, AIM icons, board icons and signature banners. Digital art files including screens, character art and environment shots. As you can see from the list there is no new gameplay fetures. So weather you pay your extra money is up to if you like the usual DVD extras additions. Things like this generally don't have the longevity of the product. Perhaps its more worth while getting the normal version. But that's your call. As it stands Lost planet is a great game that has a couple of flaws that stop it being a classic.

There was a lot of hype about this game that was supposedly meant to revolutionalise the first person shooter. It was a huge disappointment. The game plot was incredibly wierd. You are a person some time the future hunting down some monster that killed your father. However, the movie scenes at the end of each level that keep you informed of the developments to the story, are incredibly catchy and makes you want to do each level just to find out what ... ...such as needing to find energy to survive are strange and the guns are too. To be honest there are too many changes to the stereotypical first person shooter and it is very difficult to adapt to all these changes. Overall, the game is ok but not nearly as good as was it was supposed to be. Just don't be disappointed. ...

Energy Gun-May first appear weak but is one of the most powerful weapons in lost planet.
Plasma Gun-Is the best idea of taking down humans and vital suits.

...ideas and its graphics. Lost Planet shows what the Xbox 360 it truly capable of. To put it simply Lost Planet looks better than anything PS3 has to offer right now. The only way to describe is visually amazing, especially on HDTVs where the graphics are breath-taking. I strongly recommend you look at pictures of game play on other websites. One original concept they have bought into the game is the "thermal energy" or "t-eng. When you take damage ... ...This is great apart from it slowly depletes through out the game regardless of what you are doing and it depletes fast if you take damage. So you won't have the luxury of stopping to admire the view. Still this hardly ever proves a problem, as thermal energy can be harvested from fallen foes and ample energy tanks. The depletion of thermal energy does give a sense of urgency and cold to a planet that clearly looks it.

I have only played the single player game. This was the first game I had and played with the XBOX 360. I was instantly attracted to the the gorgeous graphics, particular the effects of the snow and and the cold atmosphere. This is a game where you can instantly jump into the action and is a no brains shooter. There is no taking cover or proper strategic tactics involved in gameplay, but more run and gun. The fun is you will be running and gunning ... ...type, some small, some medium and then usually some really big bosses at the end of each level. This is a Capcom game all over; an old-school shooter with the hgard to defeat bosses and instantly addictive gameplay. The explosions are some of the best effects I have ever seen in a videogame, and the aliens are modelled very realistically. The story isn't that strong, but the instant pick up and play make this worth playing, and blowing away the aliens ...

I bought my xbox360 when they first came out. I bought the premium pack because it came with the hard drive and i couldnt be doin with the extra trouble of buying memory cards so if you are thinking of buying one then i highly reccomend the premium pack. The console is a great buy, it has excellent games at the moment such as elder scroll oblivion and lostplanetextremeconditions and coming soon this year was the predictable and exciting halo 3. The experience of playing the xbox360 has left me with 2 feelings:-
1.Tired because i have being plaing it 24/7
2.Amazed at the detail and graphics put into the games
The console also features many improvements such as wirless controllers and an improved xbox live experience which i thought was incredible.
However there are some drawbacks to the console and they are the two i mentioned ...
