up to 16 players online, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is an epic gaming masterpiece. Enormous world maps unfold as players battle hostile creatures in blistering weather conditions across vast snow fields and blazing volcanic areas either on foot or in armed, robotic Vital Suits.
Microsoft's biggest supporter from the land of the rising uppercut. Realising there's no point trying to appeal to the local market their games so far have all been very much Western in style, as exemplified by the well-received Dead Rising. This was intended as a third person take on Halo and even though the similarities are ultimately minor it's still one of the 360's best action games. Like most Capcom games the story (and particularly dialogue and voiceovers) is not one of the game's best features, but thankfully there's not much that needs explaining when you're fighting monster bugs and giant robot riding snow pirates. Like Halo you can have only two weapons at a time and use a recharging shield. This though is powered by an always decreasing supply of thermal energy, topped up from defeated enemies. Apart from this the only other piece of gadgetry you have to help you is a grappling hook, although it remains largely underused in the single player campaign. The various mechs you can commandeer are a great deal of fun though, with different variants being able to jump, hover or transform into vehicles. Graphically the game is excellent, with some awesomely large Starship Troopers style bugs and possibly the best explosions ever in gaming. Where the game gets into trouble is the brevity of the single player campaign. Although this is compensated by the online multiplayer mode, even that cannot overcome the game's innate simplicity. Complexity, or even longevity, is not what this game is about though and in terms of offering plenty of big dumb fun it succeeds admirably. HARRISON DENT

Advantages: Graphics are awsome Disadvantages: Repetitive Gameplay
...Developed by capcom.. you know, from the creators of 'street fighter series'?. I know what your thinking.. Capcom.. Street Fighter... Xbox 360... Game.... Does Not Compute.
But in fact it does indeed. The graphics are lush in this snow environment and it feels like a gundam game when you get into your VS (Vital Suits). Multiplayer is awsome aswell, from lava filled caverns to harsh snow terrains, you have to battle it out to control command posts, eliminate enemys, or hunt down fugitives. It is a level based system in which you get exp per game. All of this exp goes into unlocking new character and clothing to show off with your comrades.
The single player is great aswell taking on the role of a lad who's out for revenge against 'Green Eye' (nicely named) who killed his father.
Not one to miss out on, a valued purchase....

Advantages: In depth, complex gameplay with multiple routes of play Disadvantages: Dated graphics, gameplay can be slow at times.
...weapons that can attack air targets then build one! The planet can be randomly generated or customised in several pre-arranged sizes and shapes giving the solo player a needed advantage over the often superior computer adversaries.
Luckily there are seven difficulty levels the easiest starting you off against poor computer opponents and giving your superior resources whereas the hardest leaves you in the most barren area with little resources and no currency.
Fortunately, for those of you scared of the admittedly complicated gameplay there is an in depth step by step tutorial on the easiest level. This covers everything from city building to moving troops and designing vehicles.
Controls are both keyboard and mouse driven with the keyboard being largely used as a shortcut to the many menus used throughout the game as well as to issue orders...
