Lotus Exige 190bhp
Advantages: Road Handling, Fuel Consuption, Stunning Looks, DAB Stereo. Disadvantages: Luggage Space,
In my opinion, the lotus exige 190 is truely amazing. A fast, reliable, economical, coupe-supercar is just a myth right? Wrong. Weighing in at just over 800kg, with a 190bhp toyota celica engine, the power to weight ratio makes this car rival the highest spec supercars on the planet.
It accelerates to 60mph (100kph) in 4.9 seconds, and goes on to reach a top speed of 148mph. But with this being such a lightweight car, it needs to have a certain ... ...say 'tick the box'. The lotus exige 190 comes with four key aerodynamic elements. These include a front splitter, side air intakes, a rear spoiler and a roof scoop. These components calaborate to acheive an incredible 100lbs of downforce when traveling at 100mph, squeezing those semi-slick road legal tyres into the tarmac for the most extremest of cornering. The exige has 87lbs more downforce than the lotus elise, with it just having 13lbs at 100mph.

teaches you to drive all over again
Advantages: the best drivers car on the road Disadvantages: none, zilch, squat
...You buy it for the lotus tweaked k series, variable valve timed 1.8 Rover engine which generates 160bhp. (This is about 210bhp per tonne by my reckoning.)This free revving throaty engine is married to a chassis and suspension created by the very best in the business.
Half an hour getting used to the slightly notchy short shift gearbox and you will yearn for twisty roads and overtaking experiences. Driving becomes an end in itself not just a way ... ...power is coupled with vast ventilated discs and rear tyres the size of belgium, but and it is a big but, there is none of the following:-
Power steering
ABS
Airbags
Seat belt tensioners
Traction control
Electronic brake force distribution
Servo brakes
It is you, the road and an engine. You have to think about what you are doing, you have to anticipate, plan your corners, pick a line. squeeze the power on, treat the brakes with respect.
As ...

The M100 Lotus Elan: a classic roadster
Advantages: Classic good looks and affordable rag-top fun Disadvantages: Leak-prone hood
...my 1990 "Lotus Racing Green" Lotus Elan S1, I thought I'd share my experience of owing this ground-breaking car.
The Lotus brief was a two-seater roadster that would appeal to the American market. With this in mind, it's easy to see why the cabin appears so spacious - American's don't like to be cramped!
The windscreen is shallow-angled and you get the feeling of being in a much larger car as the dashboard stetches away in front of you. The driving ... ...as among the best work Lotus ever did, the Elan is a sheer pleasure to drive. And so began my love affair with "B" roads!
There is nothing like punting it off a roundabaout onto a stretch of twisties to make you grin like a simpleton. The Elan is forgiving, making even the clumsiest corner-taker look good.
My Elan was the turbo variety - really the non-turbo's aren't worth any savings they may appear to give you at the time of purchase. I drove ...

The story of my Lotus Elise
Advantages: Puts a smile on your face Disadvantages: Some say its uncomfortable and impractical - not me
...we are approaching the local Lotus dealer, I'm all excited as I see the car in the showroom. I'ts even better than I remembered. After looking around it and semi listening to the sales man I find myself signing a cheque for the deposit. I must be mad this car costs half as much as my mortgage, I have never driven it and I have no idea how I am going to pay for it. However as there is an 18 month waiting list I have pently of time to figure this out ... ...in an elise with a Lotus test driver, WOW. Another great day.
Approx 3 months prior to delivery I have to go in and finalise my car, I can't decide what to have so I take all the options (in for a penny in for £26 200), leather seats, radio pack, driving lights and the hard top (this is a must if you intend to drive it every day like me). After my day at Lotus and seeing all the colours available I have two colours in mind, red or yellow. I choose ...

Small but perfectly formed
Advantages: Myriad.... but here are a few. Looks gorgeous, goes like XXXX off a shovel, has suede upholstery, driving it is about the best fun you can have on your own. Disadvantages: Hmmm, let me see... nope, none.
...specifications and called it the Lotus Sweary.... and finally I own one. All women should buy this car, words cannot describe what fantastic fun it is!
Here's Why.
PRINCIPLES
I like things that are properly designed with their specific function in mind, the Lotus Elise is entirely conceived to deliver maximum enjoyment to people who like driving. I had to drive about 1000 miles a week when I first got mine and I loved every minute of it. It's ... ...since I've been driving a Lotus I have experienced a significant drop in the incidents of road rage directed at me. In fact, there's only been one in two years. There used to be several a week. I don't know if you've ever driven a Triumph Spitfire at 120 whilst trying to escape the clutches of an angry fist-shaking maniac in an Audi TT who wants to kill you for having the audacity to overtake him but I can assure you it's grim. To me, this alone ...
