Historic Lotus Register
Review of Historic Lotus Register by  PeterTRoss

Advantages: Invaluable for anyone owning or restoring a historic Lotus car. Excellent quarterly magazine. Modest subscription.
Disadvantages: Not enough colour in magazine. Few events for overseas members.

...I first joined the club in 1999 and was impressed by the high standard of the club's magazine "Historic Lotus". The club is a "must" for anyone with a historic Lotus car, particularly if it needs to be restored, as there is a wealth of experience amongst the members about who to go to for help, parts, materials and know-how, It is also a rewarding source of information on the early days of the Lotus company, and many of the pioneers are members of the club and contribute their memory of events. The club does not organise its own competitive events, but being affiliated to the Motor Sports Asoociation (MSA) it is often invited to track days and other events. The club magazine now appears quarterly, and the modest subscription of £20 for UK residents and £25 for overseas members has not changed for the last five years. Each... Read review

The story of my Lotus Elise
Review of Lotus Elise S1 (1996-2000) by  kathryn.rosling

Advantages: Puts a smile on your face
Disadvantages: Some say its uncomfortable and impractical - not me

...of leather. It's a georgous day and the roof is off. The wind intrusion is pretty mild and comparable to my MX5, but this does get stronger over 70 mph. We drove for ages I didn't want to go home. Other Lotus drivers flashed me and waved, I was part of an elite club and now I knew why. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OWNING THE CAR (It's more than a car) Security; The car comes with a cobra alarm and immobiliser as factory standard. The alarm has 2 settings with a ultrasonic part for the inside, this can be switched off in windy weather or rain. Trust me you need to switch it off in such instances or you will fall out with your neighbours. However the ultrasonic is useful when leaving the car unattended in the summer as it scares off people who may just decide to try and help... Read review

The planets oldest motoring magazine
Review of Autocar & Motor by  ScottishWestie

Advantages: Up to date news features, good photography, detailed road tests
Disadvantages: Biased towards German products, expensive for a weekly

...This is the oldest motoring magazine on planet earth & probably one of the best, written by true motoring nuts who live & breathe cars 24/7. It is a weekly magazine that now costs £2.50 & they don't miss much when it comes to reviewing the latest models. The magazine starts with around 8-10 pages of automotive news. Being weekly this is an advantage over the monthly magazines as the news is more up to date. They provide many scoops on future models & often feature photos of cars that we will all see in a showroom in about 2-3 years time. Thier motor show reports are second to none & they constantly feature exclusives on new ideas & models. For fans of motorsport they provide about 2-3 pages every week covering rallying & Formula One. This only increases if they carry out a special feature such as Lewis Hamilton winning... Read review
