"Hei neighbor, turn the volume down" Advantages: Realistic SRS sound, Dolby surround mode, awesome memories. Disadvantages: The sabwoofer is really big, no remote I have visited My friend's house a couple of times and the only question I had to ask is "Are we going to be watching any movies" - he is an owner of this subwoofer set and the sound will impress even a deaf man. The bass was so clear and hard the juice in my glass got a form of radio waves. Solid performance for the price Advantages: clear sound, impressive bass, simple design, price Disadvantages: low quality supplied speaker cables This is a nice pair of speakers. I just got them as a zone-2 stereo set for my yamaha rx797 amplifier. My intent was to find a decent solution in the vicinity of $200. And to my surprise, they are worth every penny. The design is slim and simple, which makes them blend in very smoothly. The performance is pretty solid - they are loud and clear, and with the right amplifier and proper speaker cables*, they do a clean nice job. Sony's another great product - good to buy Advantages: Long lasting, Design, good for a separate set and Dolby surround. Disadvantages: Base is clear but small - better to but a subwoofer. As a professional producer, I will say that this set is very good for home entertainment. I have heard its sound and it is fabulous. Base is clear, no cracks on pitches and treble shows the true contrast of the sound. To get more natural sound you can hang it on a wall or just buy some speaker stands to face them directly to you. The Base speaker is long lasting and not likely that it will crack. To get more of a natural feeling I suggest buying ... Fantastic Cinema sound at an afordable price Advantages: Is Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Pro 1 & 2, has optical & coaxial connections Disadvantages: Has no radio After getting my DVD player the next step was a Dolby Digital amp, but as I shopped around I found they were around £400 and that didn't include speakers. So I opened up the Littlewoods catalogue and found the 'Sony HT-BE1 Home Theater System' for £299.99 which include speakers, so what the hell I'll give it a try! When the system arrived I wasn't that sure the speakers are really tiny, but after I pluged it up to my DVD player with the Digital ... ...satellite speakers are pure little power blasters, there is no crackle from the speakers the sound quality is superb they pick up the slightest sound from the DVD's. The HT-BE1 has a subwoofer built into the amp unit, it produces a rumble that will make the floor shake when watching films like 'Pearl Harbor'. Sony SS-MB 250 H bookshelf speakers, great performance vs. price! Advantages: Great tweeters, low-power but hq bass response with closed cabinets, screw type input terminals Disadvantages: Grilles affect the sound too much,must be removed - no floor spikes, speaker walks in high volumes Great tweeters, fine midrange, superb finish. Bass response is not enough, there are many speakers in that size with much better low frequencies but enough for apartment listening. Though the midbass driver is not very groundshaking, its extremely fast and with a quality amp, there is not any blurred low frequency detail. Now using them as main/front speakers in my home-cinema/music system, hooked up both to the Fisher ca-2221 stereo amp and Pioneer ... ...is pleasant. They easily handle big amounts of power and do not distort while playing loud. Easily adapts to every kind of music - except techno and electronic. But there is not a problem for me as i am a hard-rock, trash metal listener.
