Louise the Lilac Fairy is a wonderful children’s book written by Daisy meadows and is part of the Rainbow Magic series of books. This is a lovely book aimed at little girls and is 80 pages long, in paperback and suitable for age 4 years and up. There are also some lovely illustrations by Georgie Ripper, who is an artist I am not familiar with in children’s books.

This book is lovely to read together and to have a chat about afterwards. It is about the little petal fairies who’s job it is to make sure that all the lovely flowers in the world open up and flower and bloom nicely. Unfortunately, there is a nasty pasty called Jack frost who wants to make flowers grow in his cold and bitter world. To do this, he sends his evil goblins to steal all the flowers and petals and the result is that they become all scattered and lost.

The story goes on to explain how Tia the Tulip, Pippa the Poppy and Kirsty and Rachel have to help Louise the Lily Fairy and Ella the Rose Fairy and Charlotte the Sunflower Fairy to collect all the flowers and petals and save them from being destroyed forever by the nasty goblins. The goblins have a magic wand that can do bad magic and all the flower fairies have to do battle to win the flower war.

This book has a lovely little happy ending and a nice moral at the end. My granddaughter loved to read this book with her mummy and me and we had read it together lots of times and she never seemed to tire of the story.

This will appeal to little girls who like tales of fairies and good overcoming evil and would make a lovely stocking filler.

I recommend this to you.
