Lovefilm.com(film)

I never really knew about love film.com till summer 2007. At my work place they were offering free little gifts to the members of staff and you had to choose one thing you wanted. All the options seemed boring and some of them were just too expensive in a way that it was 10% off a £2,000 TV which I don't even need. However, I noted the one that said a whole months of free DVD rentals on lovefilm.com. I therefore decided to take up the offer.

Registering to the site was not too complicated at all. All you need to do is give them the home address of were the DVDs or games are going to be delivered to. The account of were the monthly payments are going to come out from. Note that the monthly payments will start coming out after your free trial so don't worry bout that. You also have to enter the promotional code and chose the rental system you want (1 DVD per time or 3Games per delivery etc). I done all that and within 24 hours they dispatched my first DVD. After my free trial I cancelled my account though it took me a few days as I could not get hold of them on the phone so I had to send an e-mail.

They kept sending me e-mail about once in a month telling me to come back and they will give me another 1 month free trial. This did not attempt me that much till they sent me a £50 voucher which had a code that allowed me to rent DVDs free for the next 3 months. So now I have gone back onto the system and I am enjoying my free 3months trial. When I went back on to the system I did not have to enter my details again. All I had to do was log in and just click the 'activate my account' link on the top of the page.

If you join love film for the first time you will get a guaranteed two weeks free of DVD or game rentals though if you are lucky they could be advertising a free monthly subscription.

____DVDs_______
With Lovefilm.com you can rent up to 3 DVDs at a time. All they ask you to do is chose at least 20 DVDs that you are interested in watching. They ask of this because it would give you better chances in receiving your DVDs quicker, for the reason that if you only add 5DVDs in your list they might all be at someone's house already. Therefore, you can only do nothing but wait for them to be sent back.

On my DVD list I currently have 108 DVDs queued. I know that is a lot, but it saves me time in going back to the site and browsing again for new movies to watch.
It is easy to look for the movie titles that you want to watch, its either you click o the genre you want to watch e.g. horror, comedy, drama etc or you can type the title of the movie, director or one of the actors who stars in the movie in the Lovefilm.com search engine.

When you are choosing your DVDs you can select which DVDs you want to receive immediately or which DVDs you don't mind receiving randomly.
Another thing is, you can reserve the titles that are showing in the cinemas at the moment for when they come on DVD and they can be sent to you.

_____Games______
On lovefilm.com you can either buy or rent games. I have not really rented any games but I am sure it is the same system as DVDs. You can rent or buy games for all the consoles (PSP, Xbox, PS3 etc) except PC. PS2 is however the only console with over a 1000 title to rent. Love film, mainly concentrates on DVDs rather than games therefore, don't expect too much in the game section.

_____Profile_______
Lovefilm.com now has a new feature which lets you create your own profile. With the profile you can chose it to be private or public. I have recently created my profile and it did not take me ages at all, though at first I did thought that it could be a long time.
On your profile you can chose the other lovefilm.com members or the public to see the movies you have reviewed, seen, want to see, rated, downloaded, made favourites, you have at home and the recent activities you have just done.

For your profile you can also chose the skin you want your profile to have. On mine I have got the Simpson's skins. There isn't really a lot of skins to chose from (there is only about 12) which is rather a shame, but I am sure there are going to add more in the near future.
Just like any other profile you can put pictures, your details (name, e-mail address), age, were you live and a nickname which will be used to identify you.

______L ayout & Navigation_______
The layout of the site is not confusing at all, you would get used to it within one day of using the site. The navigation is easy as well; there are no complicated links which could lead you to the world of lost. Everything is clear and straight forward. I personally don't have any problems browsing the site. If you can't find what you are looking for you can always type it out in the Lovefilm.com search engine, which will search the whole site for you.

_______Downloads_______
Not only can you rent DVDs or Buy them, you can also download them straight to your computer. Downloads of the movies, don't even take that long depending on your internet connection, how big the movie file is and what quality are you downloading at. I downloaded a movie once using broadband and it only took me just about 10minutes.
Some downloads are free. However, the free downloads are usually movies from a long time ago. However, if you want to download some of the recent Movies it will cost you from £0.99 to £14.99. You don't

I actually think that the prices on Lovefilm.com are quiet reasonable and not too expensive.
You can either buy as a bulk (monthly subscription) or just pay monthly.
4months subscription cost from £19.00 to £55, 00. 6months subscription cost from £27, 00 to 80, 00 and 12 months subscriptions cost from £49, 00 to £160, and 00. ---They have extra features on their site such as 'the magazine' which have the up to date stories, love film quiz (a quiz that lets you answer other members questions on movies, if you get it correct points will be added to your profile, it's a very long quiz so when you log out and log in again you can continue were you left from). I have played the love film quiz, and some of the questions there are soo weird and they make you wonder. They also have competitions were members can enter to win big prices etc
---You don't have to pay for the delivery of your DVDs, even when you send them back. Moreover, if you lose the enveloped you need to send back your rentals in, you can just go on their website and request for another enveloped which takes no more than two days to arrive.
---You can rent Blue-ray or HD DVD which is the new tech out.
---If you refer friends, you have a guarantee opportunity of getting a gift which includes cash, I-pods, and digital photo frames etc. You can only get these if your friend makes 3 monthly payments.

I would recommend this site to all those people whom are into movies or games. This site offers a variety of DVDs and you will not get bored of them. If you have never seen or heard of the DVD before, you can always be helped to make-up your mind by looking at the ratings and comments made by other members on that certain DVD.

This site is however for people whom are over 16. When you join the adult content filter will be on, but you can chose to turn it on so that you can rent adult movies (I've never bothered to turn mine on) or see adult content on some of the adverts.
