Hi Guys, did ya miss me??
I’ve not been on Ciao properly for quite a while now, but I’m in my new house and have settled down nicely so I’m back writing again!!!
Between moving house, coming back to work after some time off and catching up on everything I’ve no energy left! Its just as well I passed my driving test last month or I’d pass out with all the walking as well!!
Thank goodness I have my trusty Lucozade to give me an energy burst! There’s always a bottle of the stuff in my house and I usually buy a small bottle or two in the petrol garage on my way to work and on the way back. I think I’m relying on it a bit too much at the moment but I don’t stop – I go to work then when I get back home Im decorating or cleaning or something, It’s a nightmare. I would relax on the weekends but my mates always make me go out in the end so until I can catch up I think I’ll be reliant on my Lucozade.
Anyway, have I babbled on or what?? I think its just been that it has been so long since I’ve written an op, I cant stop writing!! Anyway, here goes…
PRODUCT Lucozade is basically an energy drink with its main energy giving ingredient being glucose. Glucose is a form of sugar, which provides energy. Im going to be talking about the drink, although there are also Lucozade tablets which you can buy as well.
You can buy the product in four different flavours – Original Energy, Orange Energy, Lemon Energy and Berry. I have tried all except berry which I will be trying on my way home in the garage tonight. There is also an isotonic version which I haven't tried so I won’t include in this opinion. I know it says at the top original energy but I decided it would be nice to tell you about the other flavours too.
PACKAGING The packaging on Lucozade varies according to its flavour but basically you have a plastic bottle with original flavour being an red/orange colour bottle, orange energy is a brighter orange colour, lemon energy is a yellow colour, and berry is a bright purple colour. The flavours are very easy to distinguish from each other because of the colours and the labelling is bold and clear. I never have any problems finding the drink on the shelves because it’s bold and stands out. The bottles are made of plastic now but used to be made of glass. I have also seen this drink in cans mostly in vending machines and some shops although rarely compared to the bottles.
The isotonic version comes in a bright blue and yellow colour bottle/can.
The drink colour is a dark orange regardless of flavour.
SMELL Its quite hard to describe the smell of this drink – its smells sweet with a tang to it.
TASTE This is the most important bit of all – whats the point in having a bad tasting drink?! The original flavour has a sweet but strong taste – it’s a bit hard to describe but it’s refreshing. The lemon flavour has an original flavour taste with a strong taste of lemon mixed in. The orange flavour has an original flavour taste with a strong taste of orange mixed in.
This drink is highly refreshing (especially lemon flavour) and goes down well. I love the taste but its not everyone’s cup of tea.
WHERE FROM? You can buy this drink from everywhere just about – Newsagents, Supermarkets, Petrol Stations, Superdrug, Boots, Corner Shops, Vending Machines, Café’s, anywhere really. It is a really popular drink, so basically anywhere you can find Coke, you’ll probably notice Lucozade there too.
PRICE This varies dramatically according to size and place. I bought a small bottle of the stuff for 51p in Tesco’s but in the petrol station its nearer to 70p and in vending machines its nearer to a pound! There are huge variations in size and price so its worth looking around to find who does it cheapest!
OVERALL I’m impressed by this drink – does it give me energy? Yes it does. I do feel more alert once drinking a bottle of this stuff and I really enjoy the taste too. I recommend it to anybody who enjoys a refreshing drink and wants that bit extra too. I think its generally good value for money and very good value for money in places like Tesco. A thumbs up from me - minus one star for the loss of the nice glass bottles!!
