Lucozade Sport Orange

Lucozade sport is a performance drink and described by the company themselves as body fuel to help you during sport. Now the main focus of this interview will be if this is effective at doing exactly what it says on the tin, well in this case the bottle.

For those of you who are not aware of the brand Lucozade they are the most famous brand of energy and sports drinks in the country and they even had a very cool advert where Lara Croft from Tomb Raider is fighting some evil dogs and then drinks lucozade which gives her that extra boost to escape from them. They have been around for many years now, in fact from 1927, and their original purpose was to provide energy for those that were ill. Actually funnily enough my mum used to always give me Lucozade Energy to drink when I was younger and feeling poorly and I guess it is only in more recent years that they have started looking towards the sport aspect.

The sport version which is what I am reviewing now is targeted specifically towards physical endurance. So to put this in simple English it is basically when you are playing Sport and start to feel tired and lacking in energy, then drinking this will tackle the two key factors in helping you improve, which are Energy loss and dehydration. This provides Carbohydrates, fluid and electrolytes which help you tackle those two key factors.

Now the main question is does it work. Let me ask you this could a product have been on the market for this many years and make such a great profit every year and not work. Well I guess in some cases the product may not work, but Lucozade Sport definitely does. If you are expecting to suddenly become better at a sport through drinking this then you have more chance praying to god. However it is effective at its purpose, and when you need that boost, drinking Lucozade will give you that extra energy. What it does it to help you maintain the level of sport that you play at.

There are many different flavours available that all taste great. The taste is an added bonus on top for me and makes a great change from drinking water during sport. Flavours available are Orange, Raspberry, Topical, and Mixed Citrus. They are all good flavours and provide a change from when you start to get bored of the taste of a specific flavour.

My personal recommendation is to take a bottle of lucozade sport and also a bottle of water as the complement of the two during sport is very effective at maintaining energy levels. I will definitely continue to use this drink during sport in the future and if anyone knows any decent alternatives than please let me know.
