Advantages: Nothing like real butter, highest quality, availability Disadvantages: Fat content but that's with all butter

The history of Lurpak stretches back to over 100 years when the company was first registered in 1888 in Denmark. This probably makes Lurpak the oldest producer of butter in the world.
The company officially started operations in 1901 and back then the butter was exported in wooden barrels with the United ... ...What is unique about Lurpak is that they pack the butter, into the aluminium wrapper, almost immediately after it has come out of the butter making machine. This provides an extremely fresh and high quality butter that is evident by its great quality taste.
Lurpak is a lactic butter, whereas the majority of other brands are sweetcream butters. The differences are that the colour is paler and the butter has a less greasy appearance.

Advantages: good taste, many uses. Disadvantages: well, its all calories, isn't it?
...my time, and I like Lurpak best - some butters are far to yellow looking, some are far more tempermental about emperatures. This one tastes really good as well. I like sunflower margarines as well, don't get me wrong, but I really haven't noticed any dfference to my waistline whichever I use. (fat is fat after all, and while there are different types, they all end up in much the same place.)
In an ideal world, I would like to churn my own butter, ...

Advantages: Delicious Versatile Spreads Well Great in Baking Disadvantages: A tad Pricy
Lurpak must be among the best known names in dairy products and their salted butter is just divine. It is distinguished by is natural, creamy, delicate taste and with a little salt, I reckon it is the greatest of all butter products.
The product is churned out in Denmark-a country renowned for the quality of its dairy products-and the creamery uses the very finest creams, which again Denmark is justly renowned for.
The Danish company actually produces ... ...rivals. I love to spread Lurpak salted butter on croissants and then dollop on some blackberry jam. It goes superbly on wholemeal bread with some rare roast beef and English mustard or for spreading on a baguette with the likes of corn beef, tuna, red salmon or egg.
Lurpak has long been an esteemed producer of dairy products. The Danish producer was proclaimed as the best butter producer in the world as long ago as the 1879 World Exhibition which ...

Advantages: Tastes great and goes fabulously with Malt Loaf Disadvantages: Not very healthy because it's very high fat content
...because basically, it's cream!
Lurpak is, in my view, very reasonably priced and the best butter available in this country. Patriotism tells me that I should probably switch to another brand and support our own industries, but I know what I like! I like salted butter and our industries don't produce salted butter!
What is Lurpak good for. It's great when baking cakes, especially Christmas cakes. It's lovely on toast, and it really is the best on ... ...because I love that.
Lurpak also has other uses too, like that old wifes tale, if you get a bump on your head, rub some butter on it!
I can't help thinking that something with such a high fat content can't be good for you...but then, that's why I only use butter as a treat. For this reason, I'll have to say later on that I'm not loyal to this brand at all, but I want you all to know that when I do buy butter, it will usually be Lurpak. ...

Advantages: lovely butter , one of my favouriters Disadvantages: doesnt actually spread that well , but read on .....
...Lurpak slightly saltedbutter ........ always my favourite and I buy it regularly , but as always I go back to margarine because of the spreadability and softness straight out of the fridge
A case of sacrificing taste for convenience
I remember one winter actually cutting off slices from the block and laying it on my toast because the butter was so hard , and I always think that even a gentle thawing in the microwave changes the taste a little
Even though it is called " Lurpak spreadable " , ( and I include other brands in this criticism too ) , they arent actually much better than the original butter unless you leave them out of the fridge which is just not practical during the summer months
In the fridge , they wont spread without ripping the bread to pieces , out of the fridge they turn to oil ...... dilemma

Advantages: Rich creamy taste Disadvantages: Makes a poor spread.
...Landlubber Lurpak?
Yes, nothing salty about this version of butter.
For those who are on a salt free diet what could be better to spread on your bread than unsalted Lurpakbutter?
Well just about any English unsalted farm butter beats it hands down for taste actually, no bones about it Lurpak unsalted does not stack up well as a spread, but of course this is not what it was made for.
Where Lurpak unsalted comes into its own is in the cookery department, English farm butters, although excellent for taste, tend to have a lot of free liquid in them, this of course means a lot of spatter if you fry with them. Lurpak tends to be more of a solid block and consistently free of water, this makes it ideal for cooking jobs which call for a frying pan or wok, sweating onions or frying mushrooms in Lurpak gives a great taste. Try one...

Advantages: Spreads straight from the fridge, tastes fantastic Disadvantages: I can't stop using it coz it's so nice
...as a third layer, spread on really thick. About 4 slices of that with 2 cups of tea or coffee in the morning and I am ready for the day. Strength to fight ten dragons.
Ok I accept that Lurpak is slightly dearer than some other spreadable butter brands-but the taste, the taste.
Have you ever written a review and wished you hadn't? This one has had the most reads so far and the lowest ratings!! So here is a bit more info for you-
Lurpak is a pure slightly saltedbutter that keeps well in the fridge and provided the fridge setting is not too low then it will spread quite easily. It is a blend of 64% butter and 36% vegetable fat.
It is available from most supermarkets in 2 size tubs, 500g and 1000g. The 'light' version has 25% less fat content than the standard Lurpak spreadable. It is suitable for cooking and baking but unsuitable...
