Lush have an extensive range of hand made soaps to chose from, all contain only natural ingredients and essential oils and as such they only have a relatively short life - however once you've tried any Lush product once I'm sure you will love it and have no trouble using it up before the use by date. Lush products are not tested on animals are therefore suitable for use by vegetarians and vegans.

I normally purchase the bath ballistics and bubble bars but as I've built up quite a nice stock I decided to opt for something different this time, there were so many wonderful products begging me to take them home but in the end the Carmen Miranda soap won.

Unlike most shops who sell their soap products in pre-wrapped bars Lush sell theirs by weight. The soaps are made in a large mould and are sold by the slice. Each variety of soap is displayed as a large block and each block contains an information label which advises the consumer of the price per 100g, the product name and ingredients. Prices vary but on average a 100g slice of soap costs around £1.70 - £2.00.
I was attracted to the Carmen Miranda soap bar because of its attractive colouring a wonderful fruity fragrance. When you look at the Carmen Miranda soap on display you will note that the soap is primarily an opaque pale sage green colour, however on closer inspection you will notice that it does actually contain small patches of different colours - however once you have used the soap it retains the sage green colour but the other colours disappear.
The soap contains kiwi fruit, ylang ylang petal oil, myrrh and juniperberry oil and has a very intense fruity aroma, I love the smell but as it is quite "in your face" it may not suit everybody. The fragrance reminds me of blackcurrant and liquorice sweets - I can't imagine why as it doesn't contain blackberry oil or liquorice but I definitely think that it smells much more like blackberry and liquorice than of kiwis, having said that I love blackcurrant and liquorice sweets so I guess that is why I love this soap.
Once wet the soap lathered really well and a little bit went a long way. The soap is mostly smooth, however as you use it you will become aware of a slightly abrasive surface underneath - however if you use it on a sponge you certainly won't find it irritating your skin.
After I have used the soap I immediately feel totally refreshed and wide awake - I have also noticed that my skin felt instantly softer which is probably down to the kiwis as they are packed with Vitamin C.
As the scent is strong it lingered on my skin for a considerable amount of time and left me feeling and smelling fresh and clean for a good few hours. As an added bonus I have noticed that whilst the bar is wet the fragrance becomes very apparent and fills the bathroom with a wonderful aroma too.
The soap is considerably more expensive than a bar of Imperial Leather or something similar, however it is crammed with natural products and essential oils and is hand made - unlike the usual mainstream soap products that are available. Because of the essential oils and natural ingredients you will notice a marked improvement in the condition of your skin and as such I feel that the price, which is £1.70 per 100g slice, can be justified.
Unfortunately Lush products are only available from Lush, as my husband found out to his embarrassment, (he tried to purchase me a glittery bath ballistic from the Body Shop and nearly had a heated argument with the assistant who kept telling him that they didn't sell glittery bath bombs, whilst he insisted that they must do as I bought them there every week - it was only on Christmas day that it became apparent to him that I purchased mine from Lush and not the Body Shop - bless, I was very impressed that he'd tried so hard even if he did get it wrong).
Don't despair if you don't have a Lush Store near you as you can order any Lush Product from the Lush website which can be found at www.lush.co.uk.
I hope that you have all had a lovely Christmas and that you have a great New Year.
Advantages: Smells lovely, makes your skin feels soft, and after all, it's Lush! Disadvantages: None
...lots of new ops on Lush products, especially for all you Lush haters out there!
One of my most recent purchases was Carmen Miranda soap. This is quite a unique looking soap. I think it’s one of the prettiest that Lush stocks.
The soap itself, is a pale green colour with a mixture of citrus colours running throughout it. It almost looks like lumps of coloured fruit inside the soap. The piece of soap that I got seems to have little black seeds ... ...rest of the range of Lush soaps.
The helpful staff in Lush will cut you a lump off, to your required size. The girl who served me in Newcastle on Saturday was to put it bluntly, a cow! She was the only member of staff who I haven’t liked or appreciated their helpful manner, in Lush! She was very abrupt and annoying!
This kind of soap costs £1.70 for 100g. The lump that I bought cost £2.80 and is a nice decent sized bar. After is has been ...

...have never been to a Lush shop then fistly I have to say how sorry I am...No really, if you don't live near a Lush shop, they do have a really interesting web site where you can purchase a lot of the products that many of us on Ciao constantly rave about.
If you are not familiar with lush products I must explain that they are sold by weight, cut off very large beautiful blocks of soap that adorn the sweet smelling shop. They are wrapped in paper ... ...very simple but very chic Lush logo.
I am informed, via the label, that my soap is made up of Kiwi and Juniperberries.
Carmen Miranda is made up of different textures of soap, some shiny, some matt. When the soap is cut you end up with what I would describe as a 'very sixties'design, psychedelic patterns in different shades of green.
I have to tell you that this soap looks almost good enough to eat and I couldn't wait to get it home and pamper my ...

Advantages: Looks fab, smells great Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...because I think that if Lush added more of them to the soap it would make an effective body exfoliator. The brightly coloured jelly parts can be anything from cherries to bananas, this soap is a fruit cocktail and you never know what you are going to get. One day you might get simply a plain green bit; another day you'll get an abundance of fruit. Of course if you go into the shop you can choose which bit you want a slice of, but that takes away ... ...time.
So if you would like to try a pretty coloured, refreshing soap to wake yourself up in the morning, that doesn't dry your skin and is long-lasting, then give Miranda a go. You can buy it from Lush shops nationwide or from www.lush.co.uk

...opinion. For some (mostly female) Lush products are a heavenly treat with an almost addictive nature whilst for others (mostly men) Lush is that stinky over priced shop whose products clog up their bathroom shelves and the indexes of recently written reviews of opinion sites. ...a doubt, my all-time favourite Lush soap. And it was my very first Lush soap, too! There I was, in a virgin Lush shower with Miranda and I was having such a fantastic shower, all because of a piece of soap! Needless to say my boyfriend thought i'd gone mad, as he said and I quote "its only a soap". Oh no my friend, its not just a soap its a Miranda soap! Originally named Carmen Miranda (the singer from the 70s, who dressed in very elaborate head- ... ...The picture on this Lush review is not the actual picture of Miranda, well not the Miranda which is now availble to people. quite often have a crafty sniff of my LushCarmenMirandasoap or my Original Source lemon shower gel, but there’s no way I would bother having a quick sniff of this!
It is also made by Cussons and I know they used to test on animals, although they may have stopped recently. There is a freephone number if you want to contact them (0800 581001) or check out the website www.releasethelather.co.uk for more information. If possible though, I prefer to use companies who don’t support animal testing.
There are some good points about it though. One is that you can use it to wash your hands without water. Now this may sound silly, but there have been plenty of times when you’re in the car or something and want to wash your hands, but can’t en route. Well, I have used this and it works, it cleans your hands without water ...
Advantages: Smells lovely, looks pretty, very girly Disadvantages: Slightly expensive, the bits drop out after a while
nice. Not amazing, not fabulous like some Lush products, but it's very pleasant. It smells like sweets, with a hint of flowers. I think it has an under lying scent of CarmenMirandasoap. I'm guessing some of the ingredients are the same, though this soap is a little more 'spicy'.
What it does
Well its soap, it cleans you! It lathers up easily, but doesn't have your usual type of lather, it feels silky and luxurious. Don't expect masses of bubbles, because you won't get them. It resembles a shower crème once lathered up rather than a soap. I think it's great to use as an 'all over' soap. I find some Lushsoaps can only be used on my body and I have to avoid my face with them as they have a tendency to dry it out but because this is so cream. I find it works well on my face, leaving it feeling quite smooth and moisturised. The fruit ...
