Priding themselves on being very eco friendly the team at Lush try to minimise the use of preservatives and packaging to the absolute minimum. The team are very proud of the fact that the majority of their hand made products do not contain any preservatives at all and are mostly vegan too. They test profusely for safety on humans and refuse point blank to purchase any ingredients from any organisations that have anything at all to do with testing on animals. This ethos sits well with me as I own two Beagles and I think everyone in the country is aware of the horrors the Beagle breed were exposed to in the name of science and beauty!

In fact when you come out of a Lush shop with one of their soaps wrapped in the *greaseproof* paper with the pretty green and yellow Lush logo you would be forgiven for thinking it resembled a block of cheese; however, depending on which soap you choose, the delight of unwrapping the soap from it’s protective bindings is a much more thrilling experience than a block of cheese could ever provide.
Lush soaps contain many little surprises like stars (Rock Star), Sand (Sandstone), Fig seeds (Fig and Leaves), soap fruits (Miranda), Seaweed (Sea Vegetable) and even Coconut (I should Coco).
As I mentioned earlier there are two ways to buy Lush soap. You can actually get the sales assistant to cut you a slice, slab or chunk from the huge soap cakes that they stock on the premises or you can buy pre sliced and wrapped chunks. Demon in the Dark currently retails at £2.10 per 100 gm but you can buy as much or as little as you desire.
Demon in the Dark soap is a gem of soap. Its deep Emerald green hue is interspersed with lighter jade green pieces giving it a somewhat marbled effect. The soap is then topped off by a thick layer of black wax and the overall effect is really stunning. It’s so striking and eye catching that it almost seems a shame to use it.
Demon in the Dark is perhaps the most masculine of the entire Lush soaps; not only is the colouring more suited to the masculine taste but the strong, fresh fragrance will definitely appeal more to the male of the species.
This hard soap lathers really well to produce rich, dense foam and it releases the most gorgeous stimulating aroma.
Demon in the Dark is made with a generous helping of fresh apple juice and mint and is carefully blended with clove bud, spearmint and peppermint which will awaken and rejuvenate your senses with a bang; there is also just a hint of Gardenia in there too to slightly soften the sharpness without detracting from the freshness. Washing with this soap is an extremely minty and somewhat spicy experience and the addition of Clove Bud Oil lends a slightly Aniseed aroma to the mix to give an exhilarating and invigorating experience.
My husband loves to use Demon in the Dark after a game of Squash as he says it makes him feel really fresh and re-energised. I must say that hubby works up a major sweat when playing an arduous game of Squash but after he sluices and lathers with Demon he comes home smelling like Cupid and his squash bag smells good too….believe me that’s no mean feat with his manky Squash shoes generally reeking and giving off a foul stench like a badly blocked sewer stuffed full of rotten eggs.
Personally I love to use this soap first thing in a morning when I have a shower. It really is the perfect wake up call as the clever mixture of clove and mint really are effective and the sharp scent of tangy apple surges right through the body like an electric prod. This soap is also particularly effective in hot, humid weather as it lingers on the body for absolutely ages and releases it’s fragrance in huge powerful waves of freshness. Of course like all Lush products the perfume also acts as a very effective air freshener and if left in the bathroom will keep it sweet for days on end.
The soap is very gentle on the skin and leaves my body feeling smooth and moisturised and I have had no adverse reactions to this product which is great considering the strength of aroma it gives out.
Demon in the Dark is definitely not a girly perfume and is perhaps best not used if you fancy a spot of canoodling as this is not a soft, romantic smell and is perhaps best suited for daytime.
It is a firm favourite with the man of the house here and an added bonus is that this soap seems to go on for absolutely ages. I bought this soap back in October and it’s still going strong today and that is with several uses per day so it definitely provides good value for money.
For freshness this is one little Demon that we definitely couldn’t live without! Try it and get possessed.
...forever since I wrote a Lush op, so I decided you all deserved another one! This op will probably take me six weeks to write because I’ve just had my nail extensions re done, only they are slightly longer, and I can’t get used to typing with them!
Anyway, this soap has been lying in my Lush box for a couple of weeks, I ordered it with my last Lush online purchase. I’d seen it before, and I was dying to try it. I got it, put it ... ...the Dark. This kind of Lush soap costs £1.95 for 100g. My little bit cost £2.03! The soap is greeny, bluey black, and has a waxy layer on the top. It has quite a marbly affect to it, and looks a bit weird. Weird in a good way though. It reminds me of the pieces of green glass that you find on the beach that has been washed up by the tide.
The smell is great from this sop, it’s so nice. It smells so minty, but not in a toothpaste sort of way, ...

Advantages: Refreshing & Awkening & Vegan friendly! Disadvantages: It doesn't lather up that well
Yet another Lush soap I have tried and tested to great satisfaction! Once again I found myself wondering dangerously close to the Lush store in my home town and I decided just to pop in for a quick look around!! Half an hour later I had purchased a few things together with Demon in the Dark. I had been eyeing up this soap for a while. Unlike some Lushies, I don't hoard soaps and save them for a collection, I hoard them and use them!! So buying a ... ...with my Lush stealing boyfriend!! Demon in the Dark is hardly a demon at all! I think its because of it's colour as there is nothing horrid about this soap! Yes it looks a bit funny but the overall product is fantastic. Apparently the story behind this lovely soap is that around halloween people hold parties where apple bobbing is an often played game and that demons are stereotypically green and also the way the colours are marbled in the soap is ...

Advantages: wakes you up, refreshing, moisturising, smells gorgeous Disadvantages: peeling the wax off can be annoying..
...I would live in a Lush shop. I'd addicted. I think there are two sorts of people in this world. Those who've discovered Lush and adore it, and those who just don't know what they're missing. The second are a really, really sorry bunch of people. It's a mistake many make to confuse the scent of the SHOP with the scent of the products. But no. Big mistake.
Demon In The Dark is one of Lush's many soaps, and probably my favourite (though it's really ... ...The soaps are my favourite Lush products, and this is actually the very first one I tried, because it looked so interesting.
In the shop, most of the soaps come in huge cakes, and the lovely, helpful assistants (they actually LIKE their jobs, you know!) will cut you off a chunk whatever size you fancy. Prices are given per 100g and if I remember rightly, this one is just under £2. I tend to just grab a ready wrapped chunk to save time, and a reasonably ...

Lush make the best soaps in the world. Ok maybe thats a stupid thing to say as I have not tried every single soap in the world. They are certainly the best soaps I have ever used though.
Lush use all natural ingredients in their products. They also make sure that none of the ingredients have been tested on animals. They use as little packaging as possible in their products and any packaging they do use is recycled. You may be thinking, "Wow! What ... ...cause them to be extinct. Lush have changed their soap to a Palm Oil free formula. They now use rapeseed oil and sunflower oil. Although this is obviously helping the environment, there have been noticeable differences in the soaps. They tend to be drier and they lose their colour and fragrance quite quickly. The new formula soaps have been known to dry out hands. For these reasons, many Lushies are begging Lush to find a base which doesn't use Palm ...

Advantages: Smells amazing! Disadvantages: Bit pricey
...i have ever tried from Lush and have bought it several times. The smell is brilliant, appley, very fresh and great for in the morning when you need something to wake you up! The smell did stay on my skin for quite a long time, which is always a bonus. It did lather up very well which is something that i always personally look for in a soap. People always asked what the smell was in my bathroom and it was this bar of soap. It looked amazing and people ... ...but i suppose thats what we have to do if we want nice fresh organic goodies! There was one disadvantage to it, it had a wax layer on the perimeter of the bar and if you drop it in the shower, as you often do with soap, it does leave marks on your bath tub. But i do have a quick way to get it off, a toothbrush and some toothpaste does the trick! It is an expensive soap but i guess its nice to treat yourself some times! ...

anything from Lush, because it is different. When he found a lumpy stone my son had been hoarding (Why do ten-year-old boys do that?), he commented that it was indistinguishable from one of my Lush soaps. Blooming cheek.
That is one reason why you have to be careful in what you buy, especially if your purchases are intended for the Lush virgin. I think if anyone’s first experience of Lush consisted of the Red Rice (‘cat vomit’) soap, the H’Suan Wen Hua hair treatment (works well, but stinks!) and the Demonin the Dark soap (it’s black and dark green and looks like an alien rock formation) – well, they wouldn’t be rushing back for seconds, would they?
The Bohemian soap is perfect for new converts to Lush. Hey, I’ve even got my Mum some for her birthday. You see, as soaps go, this one’s ...
