So Why Did I Buy It??
Because I am a Lush addict, is the obvious (and very true) answer, and I make it my business to try as many products as possible, but I will explain a little more in depth...Last Christmas I was rushing around the Leeds branch of Lush in a over-excited frenzy, randomly adding Christmas products to my wicker basket, for friends, family and most importantly...me! I spotted a demonstration being held over by the shower jellies, and headed over to see what all the fuss was about, hoping it was the return of Gold Frankincense and Beer Shower Jelly. Alas, it wasn't and that seems to be long gone now - hopefully I will be able to find it on Retro Lush Christmas when that returns online - but there was a bright red, oddly shaped bundle of goo in its place...
'A Bright Red, Oddly Shaped Bundle Of Goo?' Doesn't Sound Appealing To Me...
Yes, well, maybe I described it wrong. It is in fact a very cute mould of Santa Claus, which you can clearly see once you get closer. During the demonstration, the assistant passed the sample around, and so many shoppers held it to their noses to get a good sniff, it looked like they were giving good old Saint Nick a big kiss! After the demo, I bought one and took it home. Obviously I haven't bought one yet this year, so this could have changed, but last year I was slightly sceptical when I told the assistant I wanted one and she handed me a little pot of red jelly. Surely it should be in a Santa Claus shape like the one featured in the demo? I thought it would be in a specially-shaped recyclable pot so he stayed in perfect shape, but it was just a very small, oval-shaped plastic box with red jelly and liquid inside, and a black label stating the weight, that it was called Strawberry Santa, a little tagline and the ingredients. I bought it anyway because I liked the smell (more on that later, promise!), but I kept peering at the pot, thinking that as it was jelly it would surely all stick together in that pot. I was wondering for the first time...had Lush cheated me??
No!
Panic not, as soon as I got home I opened the pot and unrolled the jelly and there was my little Santa, in perfection. I took it out of the pot and laid it on a tray, and then put it in the freezer (as with the smell, more on that later too!). There was a small amount of liquidised jelly left in the pot, but I just saved that for the shower.
Does He Smell Nice
Strawberry Santa is fragranced with strawberries (Nooo! Would never have guessed, would you?), vanilla and coconut, with a little bit of jasmine thrown in. Because Lush is all natural, it smells divine and not at all synthetic. The smell lingers on your skin for ages and it is just basically a gorgeous smell!
How To Use, If You Can Bear To Mush Up Lovely Father Christmas!
As with other shower jellies, you have the option of putting it in the freezer and taking it out when you want to use it, for a refreshing lift, well, Santa should really be kept in the same climate he's used to in the North Pole, right? Or you can just use it straight from the pot. If you decide to chill it, take it out of the freezer, pop in the shower and wash all over with a semi-solid, VERY cold Santa! If you are a bit too wimpy and don't fancy an icy body wash, just use a chunk of him and lather onto your hand or a shower puff and lather all over your body - and hair! That's right, you can use shower jellies not just as a body wash, but a hair wash as well! I wouldn't recommend that you actually put the shower jelly in your hair, but if you lather a substantial amount into the palm of your hand and then rub it into your hair, that should do the trick! I find Strawberry Santa lathers very well, especially if you use a shower puff! I think children will especially enjoy this as a Christmas treat, as it is 2-in-1, lots of fun and gets them clean!
How Much Does Santa Cost?
Strawberry Santa is priced at £2.95 (I swear it's gone up from last year!) which may sound a lot, but it is actually good value as it lasts ages! It is also great because with the other shower jellies at Lush they are put in boxes with random weights and prices, so you could get one box for £4.98 and one for £3.76, but you may just want the £2.20 weight that is advertised on the website and the Lush Times. But with Strawberry Santa as he is a specific shape and mould, the price stays the same throughout! Yay!
Get It While You Can
It is available online now, and I'm guessing it will re-appear in stores very soon. They are normally all gone by January. If you like it, get a load now and they will last you all year, as so long as you keep it in the pot it will be fine to use all year round!
My Christmas Gift Box Idea!
Strawberry Santa may be in one of the Christmas gift boxes, but I think it is much more fun to make your own gift box! Other Lush products which compliment Santa beautifully (either from scent or colour) are Ruby Red Slippers Bubble Bar, Yummy Yummy Yummy Shower Gel, Strawberry Feels Forever and Satsumo Santa!

Advantages: smells gorgeous, a bit different, fun to use Disadvantages: melts easily
...fragranced products, and I'm glad Lush have brought this out, as I've not been too keen on any of the Body Shop strawberry stuff, and a lot of the cheaper brands smell quite artificial. I know it's a little early to be talking about Christmas products, however I thought I'd write the review now, in case anyone is considering this for a present idea or just a treat for themselves! This was the first ever Lush shower jelly I used, and unfortunately ... ...the way! I did email Lush to tell them what happened and received both an apology and a replacement of the jelly and the other products it had ruined -thanks Lush! I also received an explanation as to why the jelly was so liquid compared to the other two I bought. Apparently, it's because they are very fresh, and have more liquid in them than the other jellies, as well as the fact they melt when warm. I was advised to keep this in the fridge (which ...

Advantages: smells lovely Disadvantages: smell isn't very strong once it's in water, a little disappointing all round
Two timing tart is a bubble bar from Lush's Retro range. This is a range of popular products which have been discontinued and are now available to buy online but not in the shops. This particular product has only recently been introduced to the range and I was really interested to try it as I'd either read somewhere, or spoken to someone who said that it had a strawberries and cream scent.
When it arrived I was pleased to find that I really liked the fragrance. As the retro products are only available online a little guesswork is sometimes needed as to whether you'll like it or not. I thought this had a very sweet, feminine scent, and yes, there is a bit of a strawberry scent. At first I thought it smelled just like candy cane and creamy candy (which are very similar products) but now I think it smells more like Lush's Strawberry ...
