I first bought one of Lush's Strawberry Santa Shower Jellies last year. Out of all of the Christmas products, I think it was the one that immediately appealed to me. I love strawberry fragranced products, and I'm glad Lush have brought this out, as I've not been too keen on any of the Body Shop strawberry stuff, and a lot of the cheaper brands smell quite artificial. I know it's a little early to be talking about Christmas products, however I thought I'd write the review now, in case anyone is considering this for a present idea or just a treat for themselves!

This was the first ever Lush shower jelly I used, and unfortunately it had leaked in the box, meaning I only had about half left, and the tub had become quite messy, so I wanted it used and out of the way! I did email Lush to tell them what happened and received both an apology and a replacement of the jelly and the other products it had ruined -thanks Lush! I also received an explanation as to why the jelly was so liquid compared to the other two I bought. Apparently, it's because they are very fresh, and have more liquid in them than the other jellies, as well as the fact they melt when warm. I was advised to keep this in the fridge (which is where I had put it anyway) so it could 'regain it's true form'.

This jelly -unlike the others- is moulded into the shape of a Santa Claus! My first one, unfortunately, has melted so was just a tub of mush, but the second one, I can tip out of the tub, and see that it is Santa shaped. Even taking it out, and putting it back in the tub again doesn't seem to harm it, and it has so far stayed in one piece.

The jelly is red in colour (well what other colour would Santa be?) and smells absolutely delicious. I hadn't read the ingredients list when I purchased this, I simply assumed from the name that it would simply be strawberry scented, however it also contains desiccated coconut and vanilla pod infusion as well, which give it the most amazing smell - a beautiful, creamy strawberries and cream scent. It's not particularly Christmassy - more a summer scent I would say- but it's absolutely gorgeous, and a lot of the Christmas products are quite spicy, so this makes a really nice change.

To use the jelly you simply pull a bit off, and rub it over your skin. I was quite surprised that it makes quite a good, creamy lather when you use it, and the lovely strawberry and coconut smell seems to intensify once the jelly is crushed onto the skin too.

One thing I have noticed with this, is that you do have to apply quite a bit of pressure to make sure the jelly crushes and foams up, otherwise little lumps of it will end up going straight down the plughole.

After using this, my skin felt lovely and soft and there was a trace of the scent on my skin. This was only really noticeable if I got up close to smell, unlike the other liquid shower gels I have used, which leave a strong aroma on the skin which is noticeable for several hours afterwards.

A strawberry santa jelly will cost you £2.95 from Lush or online at www.lush.co.uk

Overall, I was quite pleased with my Strawberry Santa. He smelled lovely, and was fun to use - a bit different from your everyday liquid gel. The main downside for me, was that the first one melted. I was considering buying a couple of these to give as Christmas gifts, however I would be reluctant to do so now unless someone specifically asked for one. It would be the thought that this could either leak through the wrapping paper, or that the recipient would open it to find that Santa had melted to become a big tub of mush that would put me off! Despite that, it's a lovely little product, and I adore the smell, so Strawberry Santa gets four stars.

He actually looks edible. Will have to look out for one of these next time I go past Lush - which will be this Sunday.
