Available in a range of bright colours and brighter smells, there should be something to suit everyone from Lush's range.
Okay, now that I've said that, ... ...of depends. I've found with Lush soaps that the unwrapped blocks on display are topped with whatever; however, pick up a pre-wrapped block, and chances are it's not. Which really doesn't bother me, but be aware. Sultana of Soap is a newbie to the Lush range, and while I agree with you that soap isn't the most exciting of products, I confess that of late I've enjoyed trying the different Lush offerings as they do manage to be that little bit more interesting than the standard Imperial Leather or Palmolive bar. Okay, now that I've said that, SoS is neither bright nor heavily scented. It's a pale little block which smells of very little. However... like pretty much all of Lush's soaps (and everything else, really), SoS comes topped with... decoration. For instance, the Honey soap is finished off with a honey-comb type layer of 'wax'. Sandstone has a topping of compressed sand (apparently excellent for exfoliation, not so great for sitting on in the bath). The top of SoS is embedded with... raisins (and apricots and cranberries, apparently). Yes, little dried wrinkly dried grapes. Hmm.
Well, actually - it kind of depends. I've found with Lush soaps that the unwrapped blocks on display are topped with whatever; however, pick up a pre-wrapped block, and chances are it's not. Which really doesn't bother me, but be aware. The second Sultana of Soap bar I bought, for instance, had little 'bits' on the whole surface, more like raisin seeds than whole raisins. These were okay, actually - a little light exfoliation. The whole raisins? At first they're okay - provide a little exfoliation, in fact. However, after about 3 baths/uses, my soap had some very soggy sultanas - not pleasant! Worse, every now and then one would detach itself, and it's really not nice finding a brown raisin floating in your bathwater!! So my advice if you find yourself with a full 'topped' bar, is to pick the fruit off pretty quickly.
Adornments aside, the soap itself is actually quite pleasant to use. It's very creamy, and didn't dry my skin at all. It will dissolve relatively quickly (although not as quick as the Dove soap as I remember it...!), however, just through general use - I got less than half the washes (around six baths, I'd guess) than the block of more solid Sandstone that's still lurking bathside. I buy any soap for body use rather than face, unless it's specifically intended for the latter, although with this one I think it might be down to personal choice. The more I like a soap, the less likely it is to be downgraded to 'hand soap' - and this is kind of on the borderline.
Why? Well - dried fruit aside - the smell just doesn't excite me. It's not just 'soap' smell, but only very just. It's certainly not the fruity smell you might expect from the name/ingredients - the only 'smelly' ingredient I can spot is bergamot, which is something I usually like but isn't the main scent here. I'd describe it as very neutral, but sometimes I like that and sometimes I just don't. I'm not convinced I want to keep buying a soap that I need to be 'in the mood' to use! More to the point, if I've bought something nice to put in the bath - a bubble bar slice, for instance - I don't want the smell of that drowned out by something so bland as this. Which is an odd comment, but I find it happens: the SoS smell can overwhelm a subtle bath scent, and I just don't like the former enough to put up with that.
So... it's alright, but I'm not lovin' it. Bonus points for being so creamy-nice (it would make a lovely hand soap, that's just not why I bought it!); points off for the soggy sultanas and the smell, and just for being a disappointment from my favourite Lush - although it is still much nicer than more commercial soaps, so a middling three stars and a recommendation that you buy Honey, I Washed The Kids! instead.
Advantages: Gives lovely feeling skin after usage Disadvantages: Melts very quickly and you get left with squishy sultanas!
...shops we both adore is Lush (I introduced her and her credit card and both curse me every week!) We spent hours in there perusing and discussing items and she purchased this, 'Sultana Of Soap' and gave me half to try to see if I like it which was very nice of her indeed! I'd never be as generous as that with anything I bought from Lush, even to my best friend!!
The Soap Itself....
So the appearance of the soap is white with bits in it basically. ... ...it with your finger.
Lush advertise it as filled with Apricots, Currants and scented with Olibanum, (whatever that is). Looking at the ingredients along with the ingredients I have listed Dried Cranberries and Bergamot Oil along with other ingredients of course are within it too. The only thing that I can distinctively smell if I push my nose up against the soap and sniff hard is the Bergamot. To me this soap really isn't highly fragranced at all. ...

Advantages: smells great Disadvantages: dried fruit gets everywhere
...thing I needed was another Lush soap, I must admit. I have a bag full of them on top of my wardrobe (which smells wonderful by the way) containing so many Lush soaps I feel I will not get through them in my lifetime! As I mentioned in a previous review, I accidentally (ahem!) wandered into the Lush shop on a trip to Edinburgh, and found myself sniffing at the soaps while I was in the queue. I wasn't intending to buy one, but then I came across the ... ...said I have lots of Lush soaps already, but this one I adored so much I was absolutely dying to use it. I have about six shower gels on the go at the moment, but I chose to overlook that fact and started using this soap virtually straight away. It doesn't look very nice in the picture shown above, and to be honest my block looked a lot like that one, only rectangular. I've never really seen the point in filling soaps with 'bits' that essentially ...

Advantages: Smells lovely, looks pretty, very girly Disadvantages: Slightly expensive, the bits drop out after a while
...about 90% of the products Lush sell I only recently discovered this soap. It came in one of my Grab it bags. Price and availability
As with all Lush products it's available both in store in your local Lush or online. This costs £2.65 for 100g usually, although it came amongst my discount products therefore costing considerably less. £2.65 is the average price for 100g of Lush soap, so it's neither cheap nor expensive.
Lush described this soap as ... ...where they squeeze the tablet. Lush soaps do have a tendency to melt, so I'd advise keeping them in a cool dry place and cutting off a small piece at a time. It's good to keep them in the fridge if you have the space, which means they're solid upon use and it's easy to cut a bit off which is big enough to last you a couple of uses. If you keep this soap particularly on the side of your bath or in the shower, it's disappear quite quickly, which will ...

Lush is an eco friendly company that does not test any of their ingredients or finished products on fluffy bunny rabbits or any other animals for that matter. All Lush products are suitable for vegetarians. Carnivores can also use them without any adverse side affects. It is good to know that Lush products are no longer made with palm oil. This has been replaced by an alternative oil base.

Like many Lush soaps it looks good enough to eat and as the manufacturers say this soap "looks like a big cake of tasty Italian nougat" (as such I always advise to keep them away from young kids). However, you might find the amount of fruity bits per bar will vary with each separate purchase.
An average slab of this soap has a short lifespan ...

...I really like the creamy Lush soaps as they feel so luxurious and this is no let down in that department! However personally I would not buy the soap myself as the scent is not one of my favourites. I also found it a little drying on my hands which was a shame. It is one worth trying though as the texture is lovely and you may love the scent but it isn't for me. Also posted on dooyoo under the same same! ...

Advantages: smells gorgeous, moisturises, exfoliates Disadvantages: price, black grains at the bottom of the bath, doesn't last long
In the 2007 Christmas sale [2007...such a distant memory...] i bought lots of stuff from lush and got a free Very Berry gift set, which contained The Comforter bubble bar, Blackberry Bath Bomb ballistic, Sultana of Soap, Sweetie Pie shower jelly and You Snap The Whip. The You Snap the Whip bar usually costs £4.50 for a 95g bar, which is more expensive than other varieties but is worth it.
I am a big fan of the Body Shop body butters but had never thought about trying one of the Lush varieties. How could a body butter be solid? Surely body butters should be the consistency of butter? Or would that be far too logical? However, since being given Buffy in a gift set for christmas and now using You Snap the Whip, I have decided that, whether it is the consistency of butter or soap, body butter is my new staple product. Like water ...
