Advantages Advantages smells divine, natural ingredients, leaves your skin soft

Disadvantages Disadvantages not gentle enough for post-shaving

I recently came to the end of my bottle of body lotion and was looking to replace it. As a recent convert to Lush, I decided to check out what they had on offer. Lush sell three different lotions – Dream Cream, Potion, and Sympathy For The Skin. After much deliberation I decided to go with Sympathy. This product comes in a plastic tub (shaped like the ones you get more expensive ice-cream in) rather than in a bottle. This has two advantages as far as I’m concerned: 1) you can take remove just the amount you want on your finger, without having to risk half the bottle squirting ... more

Advantages Advantages Smells amazing, feels great on your skin, a little goes a long way

Disadvantages Disadvantages Little expensive for the amount

I'm a big fan of Lush products, but don't tend to buy a lot of their creams and lotions, but I make the exception for Sympathy for the Skin. As with all Lush products it comes in a no frills packaging with no fancy graphics or pretty colours. It's a bog standard black plastic tub, which is about 3 and a half inches tall - it's not to dissimilar to a yoghurt pot size. The lid is a screw on, screw off type, which makes it air tight and keeps your cream nice and creamy, ensuring it doesn't end up a hard, dried out lump in the bottom of the pot! Lush creams have a tendency to dry out very quickly ... more

Advantages Advantages The vanilla smell is really lovely, and it's made with natural ingredients.

Disadvantages Disadvantages They claim it's the best banana custard body cream in the universe, but I can't smell the banana's

Sympathy for the Skin has been in the Lush range for 11 years and it's quite a popular product. It's a body moisturiser which Lush describes as being probably 'the only banana custard body cream in the universe.' It comes in the standard black pots that Lush use, and if you take back 5 empty black pots to Lush you gain a free fresh face mask, a good incentive to recycle. You get 240g of the product but it isn't cheap costing a total of £9.05. I was given this as a gift, and I probably would never have paid that much as I haven't tended to use many body moisturisers in the past as the skin on ... more

Advantages Advantages Smells wonderful, really lasting moisturisation

Disadvantages Disadvantages More expensive than some (but worth it!)

I hate this time of year. Well, more accurately I should say that my skin hates it. Its the cold wind I think, it plays havoc with my skin. I suppose I'm a bit to blame - the virtuous among us (not me!) religiously slather on body moisturiser after every shower and probably never suffer from dry skin, but to be honest I just can't be bothered or don't have the time. Plus, most things I use don't seem to have a huge effect. Earlier in the week I had the (mis)fortune to have to travel to a job interview, which entailed me catching three trains and more importantly caused me to spend a lot of ... more

Advantages Advantages Gorgeous smell, lovely feel

Disadvantages Disadvantages A tad expensive, but worth it in my opinion

Experiment 5 million and 1 in the Lush product range and today’s competitor is Sympathy for the Skin, a moisturising cream for all over your bod! (Er, does anyone think I should go cold turkey and try not to use Lush for a bit?) Sympathy for the Skin comes in a 250g screw-top tub, and costs £6.45. Following is the description of the contents, but first be warned, Lush followers and interns!! This is the part that had me scribbling my details feverishly on the order form!! Sympathy for the Skin contains (among the scientific bits and pieces) Vanilla Pod Infusion, Almond Oil, Cocoa Butter ... more
