I went into a Lush store in Bournemouth last week and bought a Flosty Gritter bubble bar, they also gave me a tiny sample pot of The Olive Branch Shower Gel, which smelt so nice I bought a full sized pot 100g for £3.50 (or you can buy 250g for £6.95 and 500g for 12.50). Also for sale on www.lush.co.uk.

I smell like a man! Official! My darling son today asked if I was wearing 'man smell'. It took me an hour of sulking till I realised what he meant! Sweet wonderful child! As much as I love the feel of this shower gel I just can't bring myself to use it again, so my 6 year old is washing in a rather expensive product AGAIN!

I tried out the pot first to get rid of it. Being a clear tub I could see that the gel had seperated into a white gooey part and a more liquidy orange part so I gave it a quick shake first. This did put me off quite a bit since it looked a bit like a raw egg! Please try not to shake this too hard whilst standing up on a wet surface, I was so interested in finding out if the mixture had um.. mixed, that I lost my footing flew through the shower curtain and ended up in a naked heap on the floor. You have been warned!
The smell is very orangy, it reminded me of my Dad. I put the gel on a puff and lathered it a bit, there were loads of lovely soft bubbles which washed off well to leave me lovely and clean. So it did its job wonderfully. The bathroom smelt lovely after use too. However I have to admit it was a strongly masculine smell, fantastic from a blokes point of view since they can enter the world of Lush with us ladies. I however prefer something more girly. It is a very warm almost christmassy smell, I suppose with the mandarin oil in it. It would make a lovely gift for a man's stocking in fact.
Apparently the name 'the olive branch' comes from a song by Madeleine Peyroux which has the line “Lift me like an olive branch ‘til I’m safely gathered in,” this shower gel is meant to make you feel gathered up and safe in it. Also the olive is a sign of peace which is nice.
My skin felt soft and nicely mosturised after, although I have had to go and wash it off now as my boyfriend is coming round later and I'd like him to think I am a bit more feminine. I don't have sensitive skin, in fact I have tough old skin and I have never reacted to anything really so the fact that this was fine on me doesn't say much.
Lush uses fresh ingredients with few preservatives and does not agree with testing on animals. There are loads of stores around the UK now and the website is great too, I have my shopping list prepared!
I'm sorry Lush, I love you I really do but this is just not right. This would be ideal for a man in his 40's or 50's to use instead of a cheap aftershave, the smell hangs around long enough after all. I will try another shower gel but I'll have a proper sniff in the shop next time! xx
Advantages: Smells lovely, works well Disadvantages: None for me
...had cause to complain to Lush about one of their products they kindly sent me a little box of goodies and one of the things in it was a 100g bottle of shower gel called The Olive Branch. It was only a little bottle so I guessed that it wouldn’t last long but it would give me an idea of what it was like.
As I said the bottle that I received contains 100g of shower gel and, after checking on the Lush website, I find that it would have cost me £3.67. ... ...bergamot
As with all Lush products this is handmade from fresh, natural ingredients.
It also says that this shower gel will work best when the oil and the juice are mixed together so it must be given a brisk shake before use.
So off I went into the shower with my new treat.
I flicked open the lid and the smell was amazing – I loved it! The mixture of mandarin, bergamot and olive is really lovely. I was so surprised, but things were about to get ...

Advantages: smells OK, lathers well, gets skin clean Disadvantages: nothing special about it, a little pricier than others
...that a lot of my Lush shower gels are approaching their use-by dates, and as such have been using them regularly over the past few weeks to make sure I use them up on time! Having got to the end of all of the others, I was left with half a bottle of The Olive Branch. When it came to picking a shower gel, nine times out of ten The Olive Branch would be near the bottom of the list. I don't know what it is about this product, because it's nice enough ... ...from some of the other Lush shower gels I've used, such as Slammer and Snow Fairy. The Olive Branch comes in the same packaging as the other Lush shower gels (apart from the name on the label of course), a clear bottle with black flip top lid and black label featuring white writing. Very basic, but Lush are a company who like to concentrate on the ingredients in their products rather than the bottles they come in. So, just what are the ingredients? ...

Advantages: Smells fab, long lasting, leaves skin smooth Disadvantages: A tad more expensive than alternatives
...at the Leeds branch of Lush for some years now and this is one of the first products I bought. I first got a smaller version as I have skin allergies and I wanted to be sure I was OK with this product before buying a larger bottle of it.
And I have to say, it is one of the nicest products I have ever used by Lush or by any other skincare product manufacturer! The name is 'The Olive Branch' but I have to say I find the smell extremely reminiscent ... ...as the Body Shop changed their White Musk smell about two years ago to a stronger, more chemical-smelling mix I don't like). The smell really lasts and I have had comments hours after having a shower that my skin smells nice.
The consistency is thin and quite like olive oil (understandable really) but it is not greasy and it lathers up well after a shake of the bottle). A little goes a long way.
This is one for the adults, I'd say ladies, but my ...

Advantages: It smoothed off my dead skin Disadvantages: It disintegrated in the shower
so this is one that I will only use at home and I won?t bother buying it again.
I think that the information in the shop and on the label should make it clear that this product should not be put under running water or it will disintegrate and I was disappointed with Lush for not doing just that.
I did write to Lush to complain about this fact and they sent me a new Sugar Scrub together with a small bottle of The OliveBranchshowergel and a Honey I Washed the Kids soap so I was impressed with that. ...

Advantages: Smell is't too overpowering, can be cut in half for twice the baths! Disadvantages: A bit pricey, can only be bought from Lush.
~~~
The Happy Pill ballistic looks rather like an oversized paracetemol tablet. It’s round and flat with a groove down the middle. It does look just like a giant pill, though I wouldn’t recommend you try to swallow this, it’s best put in your bath! Happy Pill has two different colours, yellow and orange, one on each side of the groove. I’m guessing these colours were chosen as they are ‘happy’ colours?
~~~ The smell ~~~
You might be wondering, since the Happy Pill has two different colours to it, do those different colours smell the same? Well whether you are wondering or not, I can tell you that they are in fact scented differently! The orange half is scented with the same scent as one of Lush’s showersgels called OliveBranch, which smells of oranges, bergamot and olive oil, and the other half ...
