Picture this I have just done a fitness test at my school. I am knackered, my legs are aching, and I have a nice bruise on my leg, where I have just slipped off the treadmill. What’s more I smell of sweat. And since I had to do this in my first lesson, I have to go throughout the whole day smelling like an old gym bag. And the trainers? Well don’t go there unless you want to be sick!
Which is why I needed a deodorant that would keep me smelling fresh all day, whatever I was doing. I have tried various cans including Right Guard which wears off after a couple of hours of doing nothing, physio sport, which leaves a pleasant, if weak odour on you and Tesco’s own brand which felt like it was trying to peel the skin off (it also smelt like toilet cleaner).
So now I have to go and buy some more, but what shall I choose. Well there is Right Guard X-Treme. Hmmm, I’ve kind of gone off Right Guard. Adidas. Nice but pricey. Sainsbury’s own brand? Best not I think.
It was then that I realised I had borrowed some Lynx spray from my friend after P.E and smelt good for the rest of the day. Lynx is to deodorant, like Heinz is to Baked Beans, so I thought it’s be the safe bet.
There were plenty to choose from, including Atlantis and Africa, but in the end I plumped for Voodoo as to me it smelt the nicest. Actually having sprayed so many on my hand, I probably smelt like a completely different fragrance anyway – besides all that spray was giving me a headache.
So home I went with my Lynx and immediately I went to play Badminton, taking the can with me to see if it worked. After an hour and a half I was pooped beyond belief – and I smelt like it too. So out came the Lynx and spray I did.
It immediately felt very cold – which was nice, and it seemed to dry my skin a bit too. Fragrance filled the air (which made me cough), as the nozzle is rather powerful and may catch you unaware, if your not careful. One of the reasons why I bought the Lynx also was it’s novel spray. Gone were those fiddly lids, which never seemed to fit properly and in a new push spray. Slide the pressure point up, aim for your body and press. Let it slide down and that is it – minimum fuss and bother.
The Voodoo smell is pleasant too, if a little strong. The smell is long lasting though, and even now, some nine hours on I still smell rather fresh and nothing like the sweat ball I was previously.
The ultimate test tomorrow will be however, when I have to take the ’12-minute run’, which is something our school insists we do. I inevitably get sweaty and since that’s my first lesson, I don’t want a smelly aura around me – the Lynx had better not fail. I’m counting on it.
Being a big name brand, Lynx is on the ever so slightly pricey side. At £2.50, it is a lot although it seems to last for a long time. There doesn’t however, seem to be as much in the can as it’s rivals, as the can seems quite small.
The can itself is about 8cm tall and quite wide, and has the trademark black colour, with that little logo denoting each fragrance.
Now I’m 16, I have to rely on such products to help me smell nice and appealing, and I think Lynx fulfils it’s objective very well. It smells very nice and does what it is supposed too – last a long time.
Now if only they made something to make my trainers smell nice…
