Lynx is now produced by Lever Faberge. These were origionally two different sections of the company Unilever who combined forces earlier this year to become one of the largest European companies that we know today. They produce many other leading household items such as Persil, Impulse, Comfort, Organics, Domestos and Surf. These are to name but a few and they claim to sell their products to nine out of every ten houses in the UK. Big money then. The deodorant that we know as Lynx has only been around for about nine years. Seems a lot longer though.
The main thing that any of us think of when we hear that name is their bodyspray but they also produce shaving gel, shower gels, aftershaves, razors and things
like hair gel?s and shampoo?s as well. However it is the deodorant that is the best seller and is available in numerous scents. Apollo, Inca, Atlantis, Voodoo, Africa and Phoenix to name but a few. The deodorants come in a aluminium can so they are very highly re-cyclable and as they are in a aluminium can they always tend to feel cool to the touch. All come in a black colour (which I suppose is a part of the trademark that we recognise) and a dome shaped plastic top. However though they have altered the spray nozzle from the plain air freshener style push button to a nice sleeker more elegant nozzle. They retail in one of my local shops for £1.79 but I have seen them being sold for as much as £2.50 so it shows it pays to shop around. The tin itself holds 150ml so it purely depends on how much you spray on as to how long it lasts.
My partner uses the aftershaves but say if I he uses Africa deodorant then he would use Africa aftershave if I have it so I have the same scent all over.
The Scent
According to the tin Lynx is ?Lynx DeodorantBody Spray for men combines a distinctive masculine fragrance with long lasting effective deodorant protection to keep you feeling fresh?. I do not know a great deal about how Lynx keeps you feel ing fresh . Maybe the earlier editions of Lynx were more masculine but to class their products as this way now is not quite correct. More of their newer scents strike me as more unisex. They could easily be worn by male or females and both would smell nice for it. There is one thing that I must admit is that their products do smell nice.
This is one of the problems for him as i often often help myself to his deodorants so my tins never seem to last that long. Especially when I forget and leave them in the bathroom . Normally I do not mind too much as I never seem to notice till I go to use it then discover that it has grown lighter or there is just none left.
For the night out though it is a winner as I find that he smells nice. This is one of the things that the adverts would have you believe will get women crawling over themselves to get men who are wearing it . The Lynx Effect, how many people would wish that were true but to be honest though a lot of women may like the scent of Lynx but they are not likely to chase you because of any deodorant that you wear as us women are not that stupid. This is just a part of the image that they want to portray to men to help boost sales.
The directions Hold can 15cm from the body and spray.
One thing I can never understand is why they give a distance. Do they expect you to use a tape measure while you spray this or something. Is this the exact distance needed for maximum coverage protection and scent per spray or something? Weird. I like everyone else I bet just aim?s and sprays
This is where the dangerous side comes in as these cans can explode if exposed to heat and they will blow in a big way. Butane, Isobutane and Propane are all forms of flammable gas. Many forms are used in say the gas bottles that you may buy for a portable fire or cooker. Spray it near a flame and it will flare up in a second. So this is a point worth remembering that these cans should be stored in a safe place out of direct sunlight. Just think these little tins could turn out to be quite dangerous if left lying around especially where kids are present.
The tin also carries a strict warning ?solvent abuse can kill instantly? just shows that there is more than we realise to these sweet smelling little cans. Just shows that we should pay just a bit more attention to the products that we buy and be a bit more carefull than we normally are.
Summary
This is a product that you could read a million reviews on but could still hate and is one that you would have to smell for yourself to see if you liked it. Luckily though most of us are unafraid to spay a bit from a tin into a lid to see if we like it as I have come across some sprays that smell more like a chemical toilet. I find that Lynx is a product that is well worth trying and I find it quite pleasurable scent wise and comfortable to wear.
